NCV identifies the location and type of nerve problem (e.g., demyelination vs. axonal loss, focal compression vs. generalized neuropathy).
EMG assesses the impact of the nerve problem on the muscle or directly identifies a muscle disease itself.
Ultrasound provides the anatomical correlate and structural detail to the physiological findings of NCV/EMG. It can confirm the site of compression, visualize the extent of nerve damage, or show direct muscle changes.

NCV (Nerve Conduction Velocity) and EMG (Electromyography) are diagnostic tests used to evaluate the function of nerves and muscles, often performed together. Ultrasound is used in conjunction with NCV and EMG to visualize nerves and muscles, providing additional information about their structure and function.

Neuropathy, or nerve damage, can be caused by various conditions, including diabetes, chemotherapy, and vitamin deficiencies. While it's crucial to address the underlying cause of neuropathy with your healthcare provider, certain vitamins and supplements usually beneficial and assist in managing symptoms and support nerve health.
https://us.fullscript.com/welcome/360newyou
B Vitamins:

B1 (Thiamine and Benfotiamine): Thiamine plays a vital role in nerve function and energy production. Benfotiamine, a fat-soluble form of thiamine, may be more effective in some cases of neuropathy, particularly diabetic neuropathy, by helping to prevent the formation of advanced glycation end-products that can damage nerves.

B6 (Pyridoxine): Vitamin B6 is important for nerve health. However, it's crucial to stay within the recommended dosage (generally not exceeding 100 mg per day for adults in supplements) as high doses can paradoxically lead to neuropathy.

B12 (Cobalamin): Vitamin B12 is essential for the formation of red blood cells and nerve function. Deficiency in B12 is a known cause of peripheral neuropathy, and supplementation can be beneficial in such cases, often requiring injections for better absorption. B12 may also aid in nerve regeneration and reduce nerve firing.

B Complex: Some healthcare providers may recommend a B complex supplement to ensure adequate intake of all B vitamins, which work synergistically to support the nervous system.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA):
ALA is a potent antioxidant that may help reduce oxidative stress, a factor in nerve damage, particularly in diabetic neuropathy and neuropathy caused by cancer treatment.
Studies suggest ALA can improve nerve conduction, reduce neuropathic pain, and improve symptoms like burning, pain, and numbness.
Typical oral doses range from 600 mg daily, which has shown some effectiveness. However, it's important to note that ALA might lower blood glucose levels, so individuals with diabetes should monitor their blood sugar closely and consult their doctor.
Caution is advised if you have a thiamine deficiency due to excessive alcohol use, as ALA might have toxic effects in such cases.
Other Potential Supplements:

Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC): This amino acid and antioxidant may help reduce pain, regenerate nerve fibers, and improve nerve conduction, particularly in diabetic neuropathy.

Vitamin D: While a deficiency in vitamin D is common in individuals with diabetes and neuropathy, more research is needed to establish a direct causal link and the benefits of supplementation for neuropathy symptoms.

Magnesium: This mineral plays a role in nerve function, and some studies suggest it might promote nerve regeneration and reduce the risk of chemotherapy-induced neuropathy. However, both insufficient and excessive intake may be problematic, so it's best to consult a healthcare professional before supplementing.

N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC): As an antioxidant, NAC may help reduce pain and inflammation associated with neuropathy.

Curcumin: Found in turmeric, curcumin has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties that might help with neuropathy symptoms like numbness and tingling.

Fish Oil: The omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil have anti-inflammatory effects and may aid in nerve repair.

Varying slightly between individuals, there are typically at least four major bursae in each shoulder. Some have up to five or six when including smaller or less consistently present bursae.

Bursae (s) of the shoulder:
* Subacromial bursa: This is a large and clinically significant bursa located beneath the acromion (the bony projection on the top of your shoulder blade). It often communicates with the subdeltoid bursa.
* Subdeltoid bursa: Situated beneath the deltoid muscle, this bursa often merges with the subacromial bursa to form the subacromial-subdeltoid bursa.
* Subscapular bursa (or subscapularis recess): Located between the subscapularis tendon and the neck of the scapula.
* Subcoracoid bursa: Found between the coracoid process (another bony projection on the shoulder blade) and the subscapularis tendon.
* Coracoclavicular bursa: Located between the coracoid process and the clavicle.
* Supra-acromial bursa: Situated on top of the acromion.

Bursae are fluid-filled sacs like tiny cushions that help reduce friction between the bones, tendons, and muscles around your shoulder joint, allowing for smooth and pain-free movement. When these bursae become inflamed and or injured can be painful and called bursitis.

Toxic Megacolon" is a potentially fatal complication that occurs when the colon becomes severely inflamed and dilated, often arising from inflammatory bowel diseases like ulcerative colitis or severe infections in the colon, causing significant abdominal distension, pain, and systemic toxicity, requiring immediate medical attention.

Chronic exposure to antipsychotic medications can lead to a reduction in brain volume, with the frontal lobe often being the most affected area, suggesting that long-term antipsychotic use may contribute to a decrease in brain size.

It is unclear to what degree antipsychotic therapy confounds longitudinal imaging studies and post-mortem studies of subjects with schizophrenia. To investigate this problem, we developed a non-human primate model of chronic antipsychotic exposure. Three groups of six macaque monkeys each were expos...
