A huge thank you to Kendal at Oberlin for having me on their program to speak about hearing and hearing loss treatment. The questions were fantastic and it was so refreshing to be educating again. I hope someday soon I can come back in person!

Educational talks are something for which I am happy to volunteer my time. What's the point of having a passion if you can't ramble about it!

This is an interesting article exploring the connections between COVID-19 vaccination and increased tinnitus perception. Thank you to a wonderful patient for bringing it to my attention!

We have been seeing an influx of tinnitus assessment patients in the past two months and the majority of patients wonder if their tinnitus is a direct result of the vaccine.

The jury is still out as there isn't enough data to prove a causal relationship! It is important to note that temporary inflammation caused by cold/flu like symptoms, or increased stress (anxiety, fear, "fight or flight response") can all exacerbate existing tinnitus and cause tinnitus to become noticeable.

In ALL of the patients assessed for tinnitus there was a significant hearing loss associated that was not correlated with COVID-19 vaccination.

What are your thoughts? Have you experienced tinnitus or hearing problems directly following your vaccination?

A handful of patients in Johnson & Johnson’s Phase 3 COVID-19 clinical trial complained of tinnitus, or ringing in the ears.
