Yesterday, members of the Marion County Memorial Honor Guard turned out "en masse" to honor Captain Steve Petty, one of our own , who was recently selected for the Florida Veterans Hall of Fame.

Yesterday the MCMHG honored two veterans who were unclaimed by family. They were recognized for their service and will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery. Read the story below:

Two shootings over the weekend have pushed Veterans Helping Veterans to focus on outreach and PTSD support for local veterans.

The Marion County Memorial Honor Guard provides military funeral services for veterans and post Colors for charity and civic events. Your support for our efforts are always appreciated. We are a 501(c)(19) charity and we have zero paid staff members. The annual Give 4 Marion fundraiser has started.

Today, the Marion County Memorial Honor Guard participated in one USArmy and one USAF veteran services. Later, we posted Colors for a Trinity Catholic High School football game.

One of the members of the Marion County Memorial Honor Guard posted this as a reminder that there are many veterans out there dealing with their personal demons. Help them find help when you believe that they are at risk.

"If you are familiar with me, you are aware of my sentiments regarding Veterans. This issue weighs heavily on my heart, so I am bringing it up. I am fairly confident that I already know two individuals who will assist, but I am convinced that I will receive four responses, as this is a pressing concern. Twenty-two Veterans succumb to their struggles daily. May I request that two friends or family members copy and repost this message? Someone's life may depend on it. ❤️‍🩹 "
