I began the process of becoming a doula at 17 years old. Here and now at almost 22 years of age, it is with honesty and bittersweetness that I make this post.
Despite the hurdles that contributed to this decision, there have also been many bright spots that have a well. I got married in April of 2023, rededicated my life to the pursuit of christ and deeper ministry in 2024, and this year, adopted a sweet (yet time consuming) pup! After much thought and consideration I came to the conclusion that there are many other possible careers & hobbies I would like to explore in my youth, as well as simply focusing on the new family my husband and I created upon our marriage. Though I won’t be practicing again any time soon, with all of the knowledge and experiences I have held and pondered in my heart, I know I will always be a doula. Thank you for your kindness and support during this time, and should Reverence Doula Services reopen one day you’ll be the first to know!

Parenthood/motherhood is an extraordinary part of life, filled with so much joy, beauty, and love, but it can also be quite difficult, especially for those struggling with preexisting or maternal mental health issues.
If you or someone you love is feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, and/or struggling with negative thoughts please know that help and support are just a call away. Don't hesitate to reach out to a healthcare provider, a counselor, or a support group for assistance.
Here at R.D.S. we want to do everything we can to help break the stigmas and biases surrounding maternal mental health and encourage each other to seek out whatever assistance or support is necessary to help us stay safe and our best selves.

It always okay to ask for help, in fact it’s incredibly brave and admirable, especially because taking care of your mental health is crucial for your wellbeing and your family's.
Always remember that you are not alone, that there is hope, and that you are loved, cared for, and revered.

It’s Hyperemesis Gravidarum awareness day, and today we recognize the struggles and sacrifices of parents who have/have had HG.
As is true for all pregnancy related illnesses the best thing we can do as birth workers is to educate ourselves and to advocate for those who are suffering. It is so important that we take steps toward societal recognition of the physical and mental effects that HG can have on pregnant people .
If you are currently experiencing HG or if you have had a past experience with it during pregnancy, we see you, we love you, and we revere you!
Your bravery and strength inspire us, and we seek to uplift you wherever we can. As always feel free to share your story in the comments below or DM us. We honor your lived experience.
Want to learn more about HG? Check the comments section for some helpful links!

With Love,
R.D.S.

TW: loss/medical terminology some may find disturbing

There aren’t any proper words to express to those mourning and remembering/currently going through pregnancy or infant loss. Each story is different than the next yet all so real, raw, emotional, and life changing. This month R.D.S. will be joining many people in praying and holding space for those effected by these circumstances. We love you, we empathize with you, we hear you, we are here for you, and we revere you.
