Such an amazing horseman.

Ray Hunt gave a demonstration for a crowd of horse industry professionals in 2004 at the Denver International Western/English Apparel and Equipment Market. As I walked around the event, I remember being struck by the wide range of goods and services being sold, some of which honored the horse, while others were gimmicks or even torture devices.

Ray's speech was a stark contrast to the surreal scene around him. He spoke the truth about the horse. I hope that some people heard his words, and I will continue to share them with as many people as I can for as long as I can. Please share them with your friends too.

Ray Hunt used to say something about the connection being straight from the inside of a human to the inside of a horse.

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math provide a clue to explain the two-way ′′healing′′ that occurs when we're close to horses.
According to researchers, the heart has an electromagnetic field larger than the brain: a magnetometer can measure the energy field of the heart that radiates from 2.4 meters to 3 meters around the human body.
While this is certainly significant, perhaps more impressive than the electromagnetic field projected by the heart of a horse is five times larger than that of a human being (imagine an electromagnetic sphere around the horse) and it can influence straight into our own heart rate.
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a "coherent′′ heart rate (heart rate pattern) that explains why we can feel better when we're close to them. Studies have found a coherent heart pattern or HRV to be a solid measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy-that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adapt to stressful situations very efficiently. Many times, we just need to be in the presence of horses to feel a sense of well-being and peace.
In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits by interacting with horses, including lower blood pressure and heart rate, higher beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters acting as pain suppressors), decreased stress levels, decreased feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, better social working; and greater feelings of empowerment, confidence, patience and self-efficacy.

The World’s Largest Horse was a purebred Belgian stallion named Brooklyn Supreme. He stood 19.2hh (6’6") at his withers. He weighed over 3,200 pounds and is entered in the Guinness Book of World Records. He was foaled in 1928 and died in 1948. He lived in Iowa, USA.

"Horses are like water, in some respects. They fill empty spaces that the rider provides, which has positive as well as negative repercussions. The rider can form the horse’s posture and gaits by utilizing this principle. On the other hand, the horse will escape through holes in the rider’s seat and network of the aids, just like water runs through cracks and holes in a bowl. That is not ill will, but simply the path of the least resistance, which is followed by water, electricity, energy, and horses alike.
This principle has an obvious physical dimension, but also a less obvious, mental one. The horse will leak through holes in the rider’s concentration as much as through gaps in the seat and aids. The more distracted and unfocused the horse is, the more disciplined and focused the rider has to be, in order to direct the horse’s attention towards the work through a combination of concentration and gymnastic exercises."
