Dr. Amit Chakrabarty is a board-certified urologist Chairman of Poplar Bluff Urology, Missouri (www.poplarbluffurology.com). He has been practicing adult and pediatric urology for more than 30 years in India, UK and since 1990, in the USA. He also holds professional responsibilities as Director ofCenter for Continence and Female Pelvic Health and is the Primary investigator at Longwood research. Dr. Chakrabarty completed his medical degree as a best medical graduate with honors from MKCG Medical College in Berhampur, India in 1980, and his Master of Surgery degree from Post Graduate
Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. He completed his residency in Urology and fellowship in
Uro-Oncology (Research) at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 1995. Dr. Chakrabarty is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland and the International College of Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Urological Association www.auanet.org), in addition to various memberships of societies related to his specialty. Though his practice encompasses all branches of Urology, his main areas of interest is in the field of female urology including urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse, minimally invasive therapies for
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), male hypogonadism and erectile dysfunction. He has several publications, presentations and posters, mostly in the field of male and female urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse, BPH and hypogonadism at national and international meetings and journals. He is a national and international surgical proctor for male and female urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse, greenlight laser therapy for BPH and Interstim therapy. He is an invited speaker for urology topics of interest for CME and non CME forums. Dr.Chakrabarty was an adjunct faculty for University of Alabama, Huntsville Campus, and offers urology rotation for family
practice residency training. He is presently an adjunct faculty for Kansas City University & Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a primary investigator for Longwood Research and his present research interests include treatment for urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse. He has been Phase 4 studies involving Botox in
overactive bladder, two FDA mandated 522 study on mesh in pelvic floor repair and one such 522 study on single incision sling. He is currently the primary investigator of two phase 3 studies on a new
overactive bladder medication. Dr. Chakrabarty’s recent accomplishments include delivering a State-of-the-Art Lecture at the joint session of the Urological Society of India – American Urological Association in January 2019 and being a
Chief Faculty at the First Pelvic Floor Surgical Workshop in PGIMER, India in March 2019.
