It's and, although it's such a sensitive subject, it's a crucial one to talk about. Here are some sad, scary facts to consider:

• In the U.S., 1 in 7 children will experience abuse or neglect this year
• 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 5 boys will be sexually abused before turning 18
• Neglect is the most prevalent form of abuse (74.9%), followed by physical abuse (16.5%) and sexual abuse (9.4%).
• An estimated two incidents go unreported for every one that is reported

If you are ever the person a child confides in, there are some words they will need to hear to feel safe in that moment. Likewise, we encourage you to take the next, necessary steps to seek help for that child to help them heal and recover in the healthiest, safest way possible.
