I prefer to trace all branches of the family tree, as it creates more interesting stories and provides a fuller picture. Focusing on just one line doesn’t capture the complete narrative for me. In my case I found out more of my grandmas had a better connection to history and shaping of their families.

What are some of the tips you’ve used to break through a brick walls?

1. Death Records will usually list the parents. Thou death records are also not 100% accurate in the names being listed..
2. Obituaries will also list parents of the deceased and other family members.
3. Wills will also reveal more information about their family.

What are your research goals this summer?

I am currently trying to research Ramsey and Gettys family along with Brevard, Jetton, and McKnitt for my maternal side.
For my paternal side it is Bradford, Bridges, Jones, and Morrow.

To locate an elusive ancestor, consider the following strategies when the known name yields no results: 1) Intentionally misspell their first or last name; 2) Examine records of known family members; and 3) Search area records by a different date. Chances are the paper record has an incorrect date.
