Where comfort meets love.

This year marks the launch of our first Linen Drive! Often, patients who receive hospice care at home do not have XL twin sheets to fit a hospital bed.

From March 1-31, we’re collecting XL twin sheets, towels, blankets, and more to bring cozy comfort to hospice patients in our community. Every gift—big or small—wraps someone in dignity when they need it most.

Hospice of Marion County has been working to change how first responders interact with dementia patients, training firefighters, caregivers, and healthcare staff to better understand and respond to people in distress.

More than 150 Ocala firefighters have gone through the program. Safer outcomes. Fewer repeat calls. Families who finally feel understood. This is Empath's commitment to dementia care, and it's only growing.

The Nancy Renyhart Dementia Education Program is the next chapter in that work. And soon, it will have a permanent home. The Empath Dementia Education and Care Center opens this spring on the Hospice of Marion County campus in Ocala.

More than 14,000 people in Marion County are living with dementia right now. That number will keep climbing, and for most families, the hardest part isn't the diagnosis. It's not knowing where to turn next.

Ken Daley has seen this gap up close. He knows that education is what closes it.

This week, during Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Staff Education Week, we're reflecting on how far this community has come and how much further we're about to go.

Last fall, Empath hosted a hard hat tour at the future Empath Dementia Education and Care Center site, celebrating state funding and community partnerships that are making this possible.

This week, we recognize the professionals, caregivers, and families who show up every single day for someone living with dementia. It's a role that doesn't come with a manual, and for too long, it didn't come with enough support either.

John Renyhart knows that firsthand. He cared for his late wife Nancy through nine years of Alzheimer's disease. When she no longer met the criteria for hospice care, there was nowhere to turn. No program. No roadmap. No one to say here's what comes next.

That gap stayed with him, and it became the reason the Nancy Renyhart Dementia Education Program exists.

Because every family navigating dementia deserves guidance, connection, and real support, not just at the end of life, but throughout the entire journey.

This week, we honor that mission. On March 13, we cut the ribbon on the Empath Dementia Education and Care Center in Ocala, the permanent home of the Nancy Renyhart Dementia Education Program.

We are proud to support Wreaths Across America through a two-day participation honoring Veterans in our community.

On December 12 and 13, our teams placed wreaths at Hospice of Marion County’s Memorial Site and joined the community at Highland Memorial Park, coming together to remember the fallen, honor those who served, and reflect on the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes.

We are grateful to our colleagues and volunteers who helped make this meaningful tribute possible and ensured Veterans are honored with respect, remembrance, and gratitude.
