This week, our residents — led by Pastor Marcia — joined together to prepare peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for individuals experiencing homelessness. These sandwiches will be included in Blessing Bags distributed by the Rio Grande Warming Center, offering nourishment and a reminder that they are not alone.

We are proud to support this meaningful effort and even prouder of our residents and teammates for their ongoing compassion and commitment to serving others. ❤️

Discovering the Secrets of the Blue Zones! 🌎

We continued our interactive monthly series, alongside Peppy Margolis from the Stockton University Center for Aging, which explores the secrets of longevity highlighted in the Netflix documentary Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones and shows how these lessons can be applied to everyday life.

This month, we "traveled" to Sardinia, Italy, a region known for some of the world’s longest-living people. Together, we explored their strong family connections and healthy Mediterranean-inspired lifestyles, and how these habits contribute to longevity and overall well-being.

To top off the experience, all of our attendees enjoyed a full Italian-themed meal, bringing a true taste of Sardinia right to The Shores!

As part of UMC's series, The Shores recently hosted our 2nd Annual Putting Contest, in what was truly a tee-rific time for all! From some friendly competition to a few suspenseful moments, this event was a HOLE-IN-ONE for our residents, teammates, and volunteers.

Last week, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting Peppy Margolis from Stockton University, who shared fascinating research by Dan Buettner along with a live screening of the Netflix documentary Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones.

The session highlighted Okinawa, Japan — the first Blue Zone featured — showcasing the diets, lifestyles, and wellness practices that contribute to the longevity of its centenarians.

We look forward to continuing the series with the next Blue Zone, Sardinia, Italy, coming up later this August!

Blueberries anyone? 🫐🫐🫐

We recently hosted a small Blueberry Festival for all of our AMAZING residents, in honor of "National Blueberry Month! It was as sweet of a celebration as could be, as our community enjoyed some delicious blueberry-inspired treats, which were all prepared by our incredible Dining Services team.

As you can tell, it was a BERRY good day! ☺️

This intergenerational collaboration was a wonderful experience for all involved, and we are so proud of those contributed to their very powerful "Art of Aging" gallery.

An assisted living community at the Jersey Shore has turned into an art gallery filled with portraits of its residents, thanks to a partnership between photography students at Ocean City High School and residents at the senior living center.

The Shores recently hosted a fun and interactive photoshoot, featuring the STARS of The Shores! 🤩

This special project brought together our AMAZING residents and student photographers from Ocean City High School for a powerful exchange of stories, wisdom, and creativity. Their portraits and words were featured at the Ocean City Music Pier as part of the district-wide Arts Showcase.

We're so incredibly proud of our residents for continuing to inspire, connect, and make a lasting impact across our community and beyond! ☺️
