Dr. John update:

He was transferred from Baltimore to Salisbury Sunday afternoon. He is currently in Encompass. Yesterday, they had him walk 10 feet out and back and his speech appears back to normal. He was also able to transfer himself from one chair to another with assistance.

On Friday, January 6th, Dr. John went hunting. While he was climbing into his tree stand, a strap on one side of the ladder snapped and he fell. I called and texted several times and he didn’t answer however, this is typical since he usually forgets to bring his phone with him or ‘he doesn’t hear it’. Since it was a nice day I thought he might be staying out later or he went out to eat and ran into friends. After picking up Stephanie and seeing he still wasn’t home, Nicholas and I went out to look for him. That’s when we found him on the ground. He was probably there for about 8 hours.

Currently he is at the University of Maryland in the shock trauma unit. He has a concussion, blood in his urine which has almost stopped, a fractured sternum and 3 compression fractures in his lumbar spine. He is stable and Nicholas and I saw him on Sunday. He’s very weak and slept most of the time we were there. Once he is discharged, he will go to rehab.

I will also be changing the hours since I also need to accommodate Stephanie and her appointments. I appreciate your patience as I navigate through the ‘new norm’.
