The South Mississippi Surgical Weight Loss Center (SMSWLC) was founded by South Mississippi Surgeons in the year 2000. For over 30 years, South Mississippi Surgeons (SMS) has been providing quality surgical care for the residents of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and beyond. SMS has grown to include seven surgeons and numerous physician extenders with offices in Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, Biloxi, and Hurley, Mississippi. The physicians with SMSWLC are all Board-Certified Specialists and have surgical privileges at Ocean Springs Hospital, Singing River Hospital, and Garden Park Medical Center.

South Mississippi Surgical Weight Loss Center features a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program administered by a highly trained and dedicated staff. Our team will guide you through the various steps involved in achieving your ideal weight, such as changing your exercise and nutritional habits. We pride ourselves on building and maintaining good relationships with each one of our patients and providing quality health care. Our organization makes it a priority to maintain access to accommodating facilities that can fit the needs of all of our patients. We perform our bariatric surgery procedures at Singing River Hospital, honored as one of the top 100 hospitals in the country by Solucient, a leading Healthcare Firm. We have a dedicated OR team at Singing River as well as dedicated in-patient and out-patient services. We perform our bariatric surgery procedures also at Garden Park Medical Center. Garden Park Medical Center is a MBSAQIP Accredited Center. Dr. William Avara, III, Dr. Jason Payne, and Dr. John Hall are leaders in their field who perform advanced laparoscopic bariatric surgery. These highly trained and experienced surgeons have performed well over 2,000 bariatric surgeries. Their attention to detail has allowed them to deliver excellent patient care and achieve a record of success. South Mississippi Surgical Weight Loss Center has been named a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery.
