He completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at Main Line Health/Lankenau Medical Center.

Dr. Qureshi is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease, with board eligibility in Critical Care Medicine. He completed his residency at Hackensack Palisades Medical Center, specialized in Pulmonary Medicine at Saint Peter's University Hospital, and trained in Critical Care at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Dr. Qureshi is dedicated to managing chronic pulmonary conditions, emphasizing comprehensive care for patients with complex respiratory diseases. His approach integrates advanced therapies and patient education to improve outcomes and enhance quality of life for those with chronic respiratory conditions.

It is with deep sorrow that Shore Pulmonary announces the passing of our founding father:

Daniel J Markowitz MD
JULY 21, 1945 – MARCH 13, 2023

On Monday, March 13, 2023, Dr Daniel Markowitz, loving husband and father of three, passed away at age seventy-seven. Born in Manhattan, raised in the Bronx and Long Island, Danny completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, again being selected for membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He went on to do his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases at the University of Michigan. Dan then found his way to the Jersey Shore in 1976. Straight from training, Danny was asked to take a leadership role in what was then a small community hospital and founded Shore Pulmonary. He was appointed Director of Pulmonary Medicine and Director of the Pulmonary Laboratory. Soon after, as Chairman of the Hospital Critical Care Committee and Director of the Medical ICU, he took on the task of expanding educational programs with a significant teaching role in Critical Care Medicine. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Meridian Health Systems in 2011. During his 35 years of practicing medicine, Danny cared for thousands of patients, and was beloved and respected by family members, students, partners and employees. Danny truly lived life to the fullest. He was fearless, funny and kind. He loved spending time with his family and friends, sailing, skiing, traveling, reading, taking pictures, listening to classical music and Bob Dylan, and was a master of carpentry. There wasn’t a problem that Danny couldn’t or wouldn’t solve; he was a man of action and integrity. He was generous to all and always found a way to make everyone laugh. He is survived by his wife, Marla, their daughters, Rachel, Debbie and Leah, and granddaughters Jordan and Maya.

We will miss you and remember your legacy at Shore Pulmonary forever!
