So, โ€œcheapโ€ becomes very expensive over time, and โ€œfastโ€ actually becomes โ€œneverโ€.

I do understand that sometimes people cannot see themselves at a weight I set, but I see it, and I have been doing this successfully for a very long time. My job is not to get you to a weight that you want to be if that weight is still overweight; itโ€™s not to get you to the โ€œslimmest Iโ€™ve ever beenโ€ if that is still overweight. My job is to get you to the weight I know you must be โ€” so I can put you through stabilization and maintenance programs to give you the best chance of never being overweight again. If you have 50 pounds to lose but only want to lose 30, this is not the program for you.

I tell it like it is, and sometimes what โ€œisโ€ isnโ€™t what you want to hear. The process of changing oneโ€™s eating and lifestyle habits must include the process of owning up to why you are where you are, taking responsibility for your actions, and taking the โ€œvictimโ€ and โ€œblameโ€ cards out of your deck. Both those cards donโ€™t โ€œplayโ€ well with me. And if you canโ€™t handle hearing โ€œCut the crapโ€ when itโ€™s relevant, youโ€™re not the right client for me.

My experience is that those who think they โ€œknow it allโ€ when it comes to weight loss simply because theyโ€™ve been dieting forever are also those who are unwilling to be open-minded about a new way of doing things. Theyโ€™re full of โ€œI canโ€™tsโ€ and โ€œI wonโ€™tsโ€ in terms of what they canโ€™t do and/or wonโ€™t eat or drink (excluding allergies and medical issues, of course), or wonโ€™t give up. Theyโ€™ll throw the money at me and think that because they โ€œjoinedโ€ the program, thatโ€™s the same as โ€œdoingโ€ the program. If this is you, save your money. This is the wrong program for you.

Ever feel exhausted no matter how much you sleep, or notice the scale creeping up even when youโ€™re eating clean and moving? It might not just be โ€œageโ€ or โ€œlifestyleโ€โ€”your thyroid could be underactive. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

In my work, difficult prospects are those who at the consultation:

โœ… Insist they know everything about weight loss because they've been dieting for years.โ €

โœ… Want me to change my program and services to accommodate what they want to do.

โœ… Think that paying me means I'll be at their beck and call any time they want.โ €
โ €
โœ… Have a long list of things they don't eat and without a substantive reason. They don't like "this" because they never tried it. They won't eat "that" because they had it once when they were like 2 years old (it's now 30 years or more later).โ €

โœ… Grunt or snort at the mere suggestion to keep their minds open to trying new things.โ €
โ €
โœ… Tense up at the thought of having to set aside time to actually "do" the work of getting slim (planning, shopping, prepping, portion control, etc.)โ €
โ €
All the "won'ts" and "don'ts" and "can'ts" and "nots" is, in large measure, WHY they are in the situations they're in to begin with.โ €

To effect change, you need ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ change.โ €

So . . . no. There's not a chance that I'm going to walk into a relationship with a difficult person with my eyes wide open. That's why the consultation is not necessarily about whether they want to join my program but, rather . . . whether I want to take them on as a client.
