What is more important than that cookie or cocktail? Is it the dress you want to wear to a wedding in a month? What encourages you to take a walk? Is it setting a good example for your children? What makes you change? It usually is something more superficial to start. 🪷 Change takes discipline and a little psychology.

Making a plan with incremental steps and goals is the easy part. I use my google calendar to set up a plan and track my progress. The hard part is finding that motivating factor that is more important to you than the urge to give up. Eventually it will be you. 🪷 Just you.

People ask me what supplements I take to stay healthy (and lose weight, have more energy, and everything else). And yes, I have an ongoing, and always updating, supplement routine. I am happy to share the supplements I use and recommend to patients, but there is no magic pill. 💊

🏃‍♀️🍏🪷 First you need to put a framework of healthy habits in place. I continue to be amazed at how synergistically all the simple elements of healthy living can be - movement, posture, stretching, water, sleep, and breathing to start. Healthy routines are not difficult - it requires a little discipline. Make a plan and stick to it. Keep it simple.

🧐 My goal is to simplify all the “noise” of health and wellness. There is plenty of information on “Dr. Google” & Tik Tok 🙄 etc., but no one know what to do with it (or what is actually accurate). After 28 years of practice, continued pursuit of knowledge, raising 2 functional adults, and experiencing life, I’ve learned a thing or two. 😉

Sometimes it’s not what you add but what you take away that makes the biggest difference in your health.

🍹I have been essentially alcohol-free for more than 2 years now. It was simply a routine (that came with a lot of added calories, sugar, and inflammation) that I thought I enjoyed. But I can honestly say that since switching to healthier options, like herbal teas, I don’t miss it.

💃 And if you are a woman, hormones and alcohol don’t mix, especially as we age. A word about menopause. It’s all true. The weight, the bloating, the hot flashes, and the interrupted sleep to name a few. I was not going to let that stop me. This is what I do for a living! I am down 25 pounds to my healthy weight, I sleep great, and feel better than ever. It took some persistence, patience, and healthy habits to get here. Giving up alcohol was a game changer for me. Make a plan and stick with it!
