Believe things happen for a reason? If you wonder why I became a dentist, well here it is...
I was a incoming sophomore at Seton Hall University (1986) studying Biology and Fine Arts for no particular reason. A dentist was far from my mind as I worked summers for my dad as a mason laborer. Meeting my future wife was the turning point. She wanted to be a dentist and was dental assisting for a prosthodontist. The office she was working at needed a drop ceiling and I took the job. While working in the lab, I noticed the dentist was fabricating dental models with screws holding teeth (dental implants) and molds of faces (for cancer and cleft patients). That was the day! A career with science and fine arts! He was a Maxillofacial Prosthodontist, providing specialty dental services from simple to complex tooth replacement to cancer and cleft palate rehabilitation. This was the start of my next 12 years to help patients live better. After dental school and another 4 years in 3 residencies, I was prepared to care for patients. My wife, Claudine Carbone, DDS, and I attended school together at Seton Hall and SUNY Buffalo and today share a practice built on the promise of “helping patients live better”.
I practice full time, teach dental residents in Oral Surgery, Pediatrics, and General Dentistry at St Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, and lecture on dental implants nationally. Our office is a state of the art facility with an exceptional staff to make your time with us pleasant.
