October 1st marks the first day of Spooky Season! While we enjoy all that the start of fall has to offer, we still take a moment to remember that October is World Blindness Awareness month. As quoted by the World Health Organization, “Everyone will experience, if they live long enough, at least one eye condition in their lifetime.” This is a reminder to get your eyes checked no matter your age even if you’re not having any vision complaints. There are many medical conditions that can cause eye diseases as well such as diabetes and thyroid disease. There is nothing scarier than losing your vision so be diligent about making your next appointment and above all else, be kind and inclusive to those around you that suffer from low vision.
