Pure Family Fitness in Bethany is officially equipped with a special life-saving AED, thanks to an incredible donation from Laura Ashby, her family, and friends, in honor of her son, Dave. ā¤ļø
Dave tragically passed away from sudden cardiac arrest, and in his memory, Laura and her amazing support system have made it their mission to raise awareness and place AEDs in as many community spaces as possible. Through partnerships with Races2Run and In a Heartbeat, they have helped donate 28 AEDs to local businesses, restaurants, and organizationsāincluding ours.
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anytime. Having an AED on-site can mean the difference between life and death, and thanks to Lauraās dedication, our gym is now prepared in case of an emergency.
š¹ Donāt be afraid to use an AED! š¹
If someone collapses and is unresponsive, every second countsāand an AED is designed to guide you through the process step by step. Simply turn it on, and the device will provide clear, spoken instructions on exactly what to do. You cannot accidentally harm someone with an AEDāit will only deliver a shock if one is needed.
Beyond the AED donations, Laura and her team also organize an annual golf tournament and help support the Community Matters Foundation 5K, an event that raises funds to continue placing AEDs in our community.
šāāļø This yearās race will take place on Saturday, August 9th, at 7:00 AM at North Beach Restaurant in Dewey. Join us in supporting this important cause by signing up for the race this year!
We are honored to be part of Daveās legacy and beyond grateful for this generous donation that could one day save a life.
Thank you, Laura, her family, and friends for your kindness, strength, and commitment to protecting hearts.
šØ Stay tuned for more posts as we get closer to the race and golf eventāletās come together as a community to support this life-saving mission! šØ
