Hey there! I am an NCCAOM certified acupuncturist and herbalist that’s been practicing for 6.5 years. I joined Jersey Shore Acupuncture last year as a sub and have stayed on ever since! You can find me at JSA on Mondays and Fridays.

My Barbie is set in a Metal element background. Metal people can seem shy or aloof but that’s because Metal is all about precision - whether it be words or actions, we want to get it right the first time. If Fire is about celebration and Earth is about comfort, Metal is about reverence.

Being of Chinese heritage I was aware of the medicine growing up but chalked it up as cultural and folk knowledge, something encountered in old kung fu movies and Chinatowns. It wasn’t until I started studying the internal martial arts that I realized the things I was figuring out in training could be used to heal.. and that maybe the medicine was legit.

Coming to acupuncture from the martial arts means there is a high chance you’re showing up on my table because of some sort of pain. I consider myself a general practitioner though so I’m technically game for anything.

Some favorite pastimes:
Hikes. I joke that, like a dog, I require regular walkies.
Xing Yi Quan. This is the primary martial art I practice.
Archery. Favorite style has been Asiatic thumb draw.
Craft beer. Tasty.

Reintroducing our team in Barbie form!

First up: Megan Spaeth 👋

I’m a licensed acupuncturist and owner of Jersey Shore Acupuncture. I opened the clinic almost 15 years ago!

My Barbie is set in a Fire element background.
Fire people like myself are very social, extroverted, and passionate. I love to celebrate, laugh, play, and create beauty. I prioritize connection and love over everything else.

Getting, learning, and giving acupuncture has drastically changed in my life. I will never cease to be amazed at the miracles it performs. I think about Chinese Medicine all day every day and how it shapes not just the way our bodies function, but also our minds and the interaction between people and every worldly phenomenon.

My teacher, Jeffrey Yuen, is an 88th generation Daoist priest. He teaches his lineage of medicine, which dates back to the original founding Chinese Medical texts over 3,000 years ago. This is considered Classical Chinese Medicine, which is incredibly rare to learn and practice. Jeffrey’s brilliance is both intellectual and spiritual, and is a guiding light in my life. I am constantly reading and learning and when it’s Chinese Medicine, it’s usually Jeffrey’s work.

I also love dancing. Early 2000’s music videos raised me. I love all kinds of music, but my current favorites are Dancehall and Afrobeats. These days I’m mostly dancing around my kitchen or when I’m lucky, at a wedding or 40th birthday rager.

My favorite pastimes:
Socializing with friends and family 🥂
Worshipping or reading in the sun ☀️
Redecorating my house 🪞
Going out dancing (DJ not band) 💃
Hanging with my Hubby (Water to my 🔥)
Traveling (especially to warm, new places) ✈️

In our newborn's first days of life there are often a handful of practitioners on your to do list (pediatrician, lactation consultant, etc.)...

Saturday the 10th marks the Lunar New Year. In the Chinese Zodiac we say goodbye to the Water Rabbit, and hello to the Wood Dragon.

In an article written by the NY Post, they explain that "Dragon years are defined by momentum and reaction. To add to the bonfire, the element for 2024 is wood which fuels flames and enhances the intensity and instability of the dragon". This represents a Yang year of great change! This week is our last week in our Oceanport office. While this is definitely bittersweet, we are very excited for our new home next week!

One of the reasons being, our new larger space opens up the ability to have 2 practioners working at the same time! Which is not only fun for us, but opens up more appointments for all of our lovely patients.
