Tri-City Medical Center (Tri-City or TCMC), founded in 1961, is a full-service, acute-care public hospital in Oceanside, California. Located 40 miles north of San Diego, Tri-City serves three major cities in the North County section of San Diego County: Oceanside, Vista, and Carlsbad. The hospital also owns and operates nearby outpatient services, as well as the Tri-City Health and Wellness Complex in Carlsbad, home to the Tri-City Wellness Center, a 58,000-square-foot medically integrated training facility. TCMC is administered by the Tri-City Healthcare District, a Health District of California.

Tri-City Medical Center is thrilled to introduce Dr. Christopher Bo!

Dr. Bo is a board-certified physiatrist with subspecialty training in Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Medicine. He is one of the few fellowship-trained physiatrists in Southern California specializing in SCI.

Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Bo earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He went on to complete his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Rutgers/Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, where he also served as chief resident. He later completed a fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Bo works full-time in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) here at Tri-City Medical Center and also sees patients Friday afternoons at The Neurology Center in Carlsbad.

This past week, Tri-City Medical Center and the Tri-City Hospital Foundation hosted our largest quarterly lecture to date at Ocean Hills Country Club with more than 200 attendees!

Residents enjoyed an engaging afternoon with two incredible speakers:

✨ Sarah Jayyousi, Director of Tri-City Outpatient Behavioral Health, who shared the importance of emotional wellness and practical ways to strengthen ones mental health.

✨ Dr. Gene Ma, President & CEO of Tri-City Medical Center, who closed the event by highlighting exciting developments at our hospital, including:
- Earning Gold and Gold Plus Awards from the American Heart Association
- The soon-to-open Emergency Room Re-Design
- Our new partnership with DISC Sports & Spine Center
- Our upcoming affiliation with Sharp Healthcare

We are grateful to Ocean Hills Country Club and its residents for welcoming us and being part of such a meaningful event. We look forward to seeing you again for our final lecture of the year in November.

🍪 Working in our Rehab Department really is the sweetest!

This past week, our Rehab team hosted a Chocolate Chip Cookie Bake-Off with 11 delicious entries competing for the coveted Golden Spoon.

Our very own ARU Physical Therapist Assistant (and former professional baker) Stephine had the tough job of judging each entrant. It was Outpatient Neuro Therapist Melanie who was crowned this year’s champion! 🎉👏

We had a fantastic time at this year’s North County Health Fair! A massive thank you to our friends at the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce for hosting such an amazing event! 💙

It was wonderful connecting with our friends and neighbors to share the exciting things happening at Tri-City Medical Center.

We also want to send our thanks to our neighbor-booth, Sharp HealthCare!It was great to work alongside you today and we’re looking forward to collaborating on even more amazing work for our community!!

Finally, a big shout-out to our partners, the Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary and the Tri-City Hospital Foundation , for joining us at the fair and helping us recruit more volunteers and donors to support our hospitals mission! 🙌

We are proud to share that Tri-City Medical Center has been named one of only 12 hospitals in California to receive the prestigious: Commitment to Quality Award, from the American Heart Association.

In addition to this incredible honor, we also received the following recognitions:

This past weekend, Tri-City hosted more than 50 volunteers for our second Hospital Beautification Clean-Up!

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers from Coast Church , as well as our dedicated staff members, who took time out of their busy weekends to help enhance our beloved campus.

From laying fresh mulch to removing overgrown brush, these volunteers did it all while making a meaningful difference in the process!

Anxiety disorders: This is one of the most common mental health conditions. Our goal is to help you recover by working on acceptance and avoiding behavior that reinforces anxiety.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): an evidence-based method of treatment developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D. at the University of Washington in Seattle. This approach is designed to treat clients with Borderline Personality Disorder and is now used to help clients with a wide variety of disorders, including mood disorders, other personality disorders and substance use disorders.

The Dual Recovery Program focuses on supporting individuals in their recovery from co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Our dedicated team—comprising Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors, and Nurses—works collaboratively to provide integrated, person-centered care.

The Older Adult Program offer a comprehensive program with individualized care, designed to help participants over the age of 55 address challenges often associated with aging and various mental health symptoms. Some of the therapies we offer are:
