Meet the leaders behind La Paloma’s 2026 Best Nursing Home recognition.

“I’ve had the privilege of serving as a Case Manager at La Paloma Healthcare Center for the past 17 wonderful years.

My journey in skilled nursing started long before my career ever did. When I was a kid, my dad led church services in a long-term care facility. I grew up surrounded by what I lovingly call ‘a hundred grandmas.’ I would curl up in their laps during services and listen to my dad speak — those are still some of my most cherished memories.

From a very young age, I knew I wanted to work in this environment. I became a CNA while still in high school and went straight into nursing school after. It has always been more than a job for me — it’s a calling.

To me, quality care means giving the same level of compassion and commitment I would want for my own family. Every resident comes to us with their own story, their own challenges, and their own strengths. I believe in truly understanding those unique needs and setting our patients up for success, both in our facility and once they return home.

I try to make a difference by simply caring — by showing up every day with a positive attitude, by encouraging patients when they feel discouraged, and by advocating fiercely for them with their insurance partners. My goal is always to help them reach their highest rehab potential, and to make them feel seen, supported, and capable along the way.

La Paloma has been my home for nearly two decades, and it is my greatest honor to continue serving our residents and families.”

“My name is Ivan Rios, and I’m proud to serve as the Assistant Director of Nursing at La Paloma Healthcare Center. I’ve been part of this amazing team for the past three months, and it’s already been an incredibly rewarding journey.

What inspired me to work in skilled nursing is being part of the recovery process after hospitalization. Seeing patients regain strength, confidence, and independence is what drives me every day.

To me, quality care means going above and beyond — making every patient feel welcome, supported, and treated like family. It’s not just about the clinical side, it’s about how people feel while they heal.

Even though my role doesn’t always keep me on the floor, I still love jumping in whenever I can — helping with IVs, supporting the nurses, answering questions, and being available when my team needs backup. Making a difference doesn’t always happen in big moments — it happens by showing up for your team and your patients every day.

Meet the leaders behind La Paloma’s 2026 Best Nursing Home recognition.

“I’ve been part of the La Paloma Healthcare team since February 2025, but in many ways, this journey started long before that.

My mom was a CNA, and she used to bring me to her skilled nursing job when I was twelve. I watched her treat strangers like they were treasure—people who could no longer care for themselves, yet she guarded their dignity like it was sacred.
That memory never left me. It taught me that kindness can be quiet, fierce, and life-changing.

Today, as Director of Staff Development, I carry that lesson into every training, every huddle, and every new caregiver I welcome. Quality care, to me, is meeting someone at their most fragile and still treating them like they’re whole—listening to the silence, holding a trembling hand, and choosing compassion even when it would be easier not to.

My role is to equip our CNAs and staff with sharp skills, confidence, and ironclad infection-prevention practices so they can care deeply without ever bringing harm. When our team enters a room with clean hands and open hearts, residents stay safer, heal better, and feel truly valued.
That’s the impact I strive to make—one empowered, fearless caregiver at a time.”

“I’m honored to serve as the Administrator at La Paloma Healthcare Center. Since joining the team in February 2025, my focus has been simple: support our staff so they can provide the highest standard of care to our residents.

My background as a Doctor of Physical Therapy taught me that healthcare is about more than outcomes, it’s about dignity, safety, and human connection. To me, quality care happens when compassion, communication, and consistency come together, and when we treat every resident like family.
