Academy of Traditional Medicine & Acupuncture Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the five branches within the scope of practice of Oriental Medicine.

It includes treatments using substances as plants, roots, minerals, and more. This is a comprehensive 2 year distance learning training program. • Divisions of Chinese Herbal Medicine

– Materia Medica

• Main focus for the first 60 hours
• Repertoire of 260+ essential herbs (and other substances) from 17-27 different categories. ( Taste, Nature, Temperature, Entering Channels, Indications, Functions, and Contraindications ) Plus... 100 – Key 2 Herb Combinations that have shown consistent, proven and reliable results.

– Formulas
• Main focus for the second 65 hours.
• Basic Repertoire of 75-90 formulas commonly used.
• Basic Formula Families
• Knowing how to choose a representative formula and then modifying them to fit the pattern.
• Creating and writing a custom precision formula for each patient. (This is an advanced course after the foundations of Materia Medica and Key Formulas have been covered.) Prerequisite:
Understanding of Chinese medical theory and diagnosis is essential. You must have completed an entry level 1st year education in Oriental Medicine and acupuncture to be accepted into the program. Your bank of knowledge should include: basic treatment principles and pattern discrimination.
