🚫 Not all “strength training” for dancers is safe or effective.

The difference between protecting dancers and pushing them toward injury often comes down to how you train.

❌ What NOT to do:
– Dancing with ankle or wrist weights on
– Overstretching with yoga blocks or forcing range
– Pushing dancers to fatigue without proper form

✅ What TO do:
– Prioritize controlled, dancer-specific strength exercises
– Focus on quality of movement over load or reps
– Consult a professional with education in strength & dance medicine

When done right, strength training doesn’t just add “fitness” — it:
✨ Protects against injury
✨ Builds power & control
✨ Enhances artistry, not replaces it

Instead, go for dynamic movements to:
❤️ Increase blood flow
💪🏼 Activate key muscles
🦵 Prepare your joints for dance

Parents, this is one of the best ways to help prevent injuries in young dancers. A good warm-up should:

🔹 Mimic dance movements
🔹 Start slow, then build intensity
🔹 Include light cardio, dynamic stretching, & muscle activation
