We all have internal narratives that shape how we see our lives, but sometimes those stories are built around experiences, beliefs, or labels that don't tell the full picture. Narrative therapy helps create distance from the problem, so it doesn't define who you are, and opens the door to new ways of understanding yourself.

It’s a way of recognizing that you're not stuck in one version of your story. You get to question it, reshape it, and take more ownership of the direction it moves in from here.

What's one narrative you tell yourself that you'd like to change?

Not everything about healing is smooth or straightforward. It’s showing up again after a hard day, trying again when things don’t go how you hoped, and noticing you’re still moving forward even when it feels slow.

Over time, those small moments of trying start to add up and you start to notice how strong you’ve been all along.

Depression affects millions of men, yet many struggle in silence. Understanding how to help men with depression can make a meaningful difference for someone who may feel isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn. While depression can affect anyone, men often experience it differently and may hesitate to talk about what they are going through.

If you've ever wondered why there's a stigma around men’s mental health, the answer often lies in long-standing cultural expectations about masculinity, emotional expression, and strength. Men are often taught (directly or indirectly) to handle problems on their own. This message can make it difficult to acknowledge emotional pain, ask for support, or seek professional help. Over time, these pressures create a stigma that keeps many men silent about what they are going through.

When do men emotionally mature? This is a question that comes up in relationships, families, and even in quiet moments of self-reflection. Some people assume maturity happens automatically with age. Others believe men simply “take longer.” The truth is more nuanced.

Emotional maturity is not tied to a specific birthday. While brain development continues into the mid-to-late twenties, growth does not stop there. Maturity is shaped by experience, accountability, emotional skills, and the willingness to face discomfort rather than avoid it.

When people picture anxiety, they often imagine constant worry or panic attacks. But understanding how anxiety looks different in men means looking beyond stereotypes. You might feel constantly on edge, easily frustrated, or mentally exhausted without knowing why. You may push through it, distract yourself at the gym, bury yourself in work, or shut down emotionally. That does not mean nothing is wrong. It often means something deeper is going unaddressed.

April is Autism Acceptance Month 💙

It’s a time to better understand how autism connects with mental health, and how we can support the people in our lives in ways that meet their needs.

Autism is diagnosed in boys about 4 times more often than girls, and research shows that many people on the spectrum are also more likely to experience anxiety or depression, especially if they go undiagnosed or misunderstood for years. Some studies have also found higher rates of substance use challenges among autistic adults, linked to stress, masking, or feeling out of place in a world that wasn't built with them in mind.

But the most important thing to remember is this: there is absolutely nothing wrong with being autistic. It’s not something missing. It’s a different way of thinking, feeling, and experiencing the world.

Autism looks different for everyone. Each person has their own strengths, needs, and sensitivities. The best way to support someone is simple - listen to them, learn what helps, and create spaces where they feel understood and accepted.
