April’s Patient of the Month is Bella—a true example of resilience and never giving up hope. 🐾💖
What began as a tragic story became a powerful celebration of strength. Bella came to us after a vicious dog attack that left both of her hind limbs severely injured. After careful evaluation, her left leg required amputation, while her right leg underwent advanced repair with an external fixator and wound vac.
Despite every effort to keep her comfortable, Bella was in significant pain, and her right leg was not healing as we had hoped. It was also suspected that she had developed an antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection. Ultimately, it was decided that amputation was the best way forward. And in Bella’s case, letting go of those pesky hind limbs turned out to be exactly what she needed to rediscover her spark and begin her new life as a special needs Shih Tzu. ✨
After weeks of care and on-and-off hospitalization, Bella made an incredible comeback. At her recheck appointment, she was like a brand new dog—happy, pain-free, and thriving. She’s gaining weight, full of personality, and her mom, Kristen, is already exploring wheelchairs to help Bella live life to the fullest.
Seeing Bella so joyful after everything she’s been through nearly brought us to tears. We are beyond grateful to Kristen for never giving up on her baby and doing everything in her power to get Bella the care she needed. The unconditional love Kristen has for Bella is nothing short of heartwarming, and we are so happy to know that Bella will continue to recover in the best possible hands.
At just under 2 years old, Bella has a whole life ahead of her—and we can’t wait to see her roll into it. 💕🐶
