Medical term of the day: Paraphimosis — a condition where the p***s is unable to retract back into the sheath. 🩺📚

This handsome puppy, Vegas from Second Chance Rescue, came to us with a congenital defect causing severe paraphimosis and, bonus vocabulary word, hypospadias — a condition where the urethra is located on the underside of the p***s instead of at the tip.

Vegas clearly didn't read the anatomy textbooks, but that’s okay, because Dr. Infernuso successfully corrected these issues with reconstructive surgery. Now, Vegas is on the road to recovery in his forever home. 🐶💛

Thank you to Girl Scout Troop 2449 for making another day of vet med magic possible! 💖

During their fun-filled visit, these enthusiastic future leaders learned all about patient care—practicing bandaging, performing physical exams, and caring for their stuffed animal pals. Along the way, they discovered just how much love and responsibility go into what we do every day.

A special thank you to our LVT Lisa for inspiring this amazing group and showing them how beautiful animal care can be. 🐾✨

Miss Riley Rose, a beautiful Husky pup from Second Chance Rescue, was an absolute star patient when she came to us for a femur fracture repair. 🐾✨

She quickly made best friends with our assistant Justin, giving her plenty of chances to show off that stunning smile.

We’re wishing this sweet girl a bright future filled with love, happiness, and the forever family she deserves. 🐶 💕

We wanted to share a beautiful story of progress and perseverance. 🩵🐾

When Penny first came to us for a CT scan due to a back injury, she was in extreme pain and unable to walk. She later underwent spinal surgery to treat IVDD and sessions of post-operative laser therapy.

Her road to recovery wasn’t easy, but fast forward a few weeks, and we received an update that Penny is walking like a brand new dog. ✨ Her mom, Nikki, shared Penny's amazing progress with us, noting that Penny is back to her happy self and expressing her gratitude for Dr. Short and Dr. Infernuso, who cared for Penny every step of the way.

It’s truly an honor to be part of these healing journeys and to witness the love and dedication of the families who care for pets like Penny—and who share these special milestones with us along the way.

We’re wishing Penny continued progress and many more happy steps ahead. 🐶💕

We basically hosted our own reptile expo this week, thanks to our assistant Liam and his incredible crew of scaly friends! 🐍🦎🐢

Our LVT, Christina, was brave enough to hold every critter, proving there’s nothing she can’t handle. There's truly never a dull moment around here. You might spot a tortoise supervising a patient recovery or a gecko hitching a ride on a surgeon’s shoulder.

Thanks for brightening our day, reptile gang! 💚✨

It's Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, and how could you not instantly fall in love with a face like little Eleanor's from Posh Pets Rescue? 🥹💕

Our veterinary assistant Karan certainly did when Eleanor visited us during our Free Snip & Fix for Rescues event. Between her d***y smile and those adorably awkward arms she doesn’t quite know what to do with, Eleanor made quite the impression on everyone she met.

We just know this sweet girl is going to fill her future home with so much love and happiness. 💖

April’s Patient of the Month is Bella—a true example of resilience and never giving up hope. 🐾💖

What began as a tragic story became a powerful celebration of strength. Bella came to us after a vicious dog attack that left both of her hind limbs severely injured. After careful evaluation, her left leg required amputation, while her right leg underwent advanced repair with an external fixator and wound vac.

Despite every effort to keep her comfortable, Bella was in significant pain, and her right leg was not healing as we had hoped. It was also suspected that she had developed an antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection. Ultimately, it was decided that amputation was the best way forward. And in Bella’s case, letting go of those pesky hind limbs turned out to be exactly what she needed to rediscover her spark and begin her new life as a special needs Shih Tzu. ✨

After weeks of care and on-and-off hospitalization, Bella made an incredible comeback. At her recheck appointment, she was like a brand new dog—happy, pain-free, and thriving. She’s gaining weight, full of personality, and her mom, Kristen, is already exploring wheelchairs to help Bella live life to the fullest.

Seeing Bella so joyful after everything she’s been through nearly brought us to tears. We are beyond grateful to Kristen for never giving up on her baby and doing everything in her power to get Bella the care she needed. The unconditional love Kristen has for Bella is nothing short of heartwarming, and we are so happy to know that Bella will continue to recover in the best possible hands.

At just under 2 years old, Bella has a whole life ahead of her—and we can’t wait to see her roll into it. 💕🐶
