Let’s talk MOBILITY and STABILITY!

🤸🏼‍♀️mo•bil•i•ty

• The ability to move freely and easily.

🤸🏼‍♀️sta•bil•i•ty

• The ability of the body to maintain postural equilibrium and support joints during movement.

Say hello to Kori’s friend and former athlete, Taylor! She and Kori traveled the US and Europe on tour with and they both currently call Orlando, HOME!🤘🏼

Taylor is a D1 gymnast, stunt performer, CrossFit athlete, and (the greatest job of all) mom, who has worked hard on keeping the balance between mobility and stability of her joints. She also makes handstands look incredibly easy!

How cool is that X-ray of a handstand split?! It truly gives you all the insight to what our bodies can perform with the perfect balance of mobility and stability within a movement!

DM us if you feel you want to learn more on how to keep particular joints more mobile and other joints more stable! Maybe you’ll get to do some cool
too! 🤸🏼‍♀️

🍎🍌🥚Eat THIS! Not THAT!🍫🍟🍔

Have you ever asked yourself, “What do I want to eat today?”

or

“What do I eat in between my dance classes, rehearsals, or shows?”

A few things to focus on when choosing the right snack or drink during the day is how it will fuel you to continue doing what you love, rather than send you on sugar high and then nose-dive into a sleep coma!

💦 First, drink water! Instead of reaching for that soda filled with carbonated battery acid, choose a wiser option such as an electrolyte drink ( ) or high quality H2O! Replacing your fluid and electrolyte loss through sweating is important for your body to continue to do what you want it to do!

Next, if you’ve got a sweet tooth like me, you want a quick boost of delicious sugary chocolatey goodness! However, if you want your machine of a body to keep acting like the well-oiled machine that we all know it is, pack a few pieces of fruit in your lunch bag!

Lastly, for those who crave a good crunch like some CHEETZ-ITZ or DORITOS in between your movement sessions, try grabbing a handful of almonds to take with you! Or if you’ve got a nut allergy, there are some delicious and nutritious protein bars on the market as well. Just be careful not to get one with a handful of sugar in it! 😉

My favorite food I like to encourage my professional dancers to consume is packing a nut butter and honey sandwich! You’ve got a perfect balance of proteins and carbohydrates with a touch of natural sugar to keep your body fueled and ready to go! Keep in mind, if you’re consuming the sandwich for a snack, I would eat a half at a time and save that goodness for the next break in your day!

I know it may be weird at first not to eat and drink all those sugary and salty goodies, but you will thank yourself for choosing the wiser option!

Hey Dancers! Stop scrolling! You may be missing potential!

Can we have a quick chat about resistance, load and force?

Load is simply the force placed on your body. This can be accomplished many different ways but one very common way is with the use of resistance.

Resistance tools are resistance bands, dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, plate weights, weight machines or strategic use of your own body weight.

One is no better than or more dangerous than the other. They are all simply tools used to increase strength, power and explosiveness.

Just like any tool, some are more efficient for certain tasks. A power screwdriver is more efficient than a hand held screwdriver for a project with many screws. While the hand screwdriver might be more faster and easier for a project with a single screw. The power screwdriver has more potential to hurt your fingers if used incorrectly than does a manual screwdriver, but that doesn't make it dangerous. Especially in the hands of someone skilled.

Similarly, resistance bands are great for initial strength gains or for strengthening smaller muscles but may be less efficient for building meaningful strength.

Use of dumbbells, barbells and machines can be VERY effective for building strength but are often overlooked in dancers for being "dangerous," "bad" or because of the fear of "looking bulky."

When used correctly, there's nothing "bad" or "dangerous" about traditional weight equipment. BUT you may be missing out on an opportunity to strengthen more efficiently.

And we promise, no one has ever looked like a body builder using a 5 # dumbbell 😉
