Grief changes the rules of self-love.

Sometimes self-love isn’t bubble baths or productivity—it’s permission to slow down, to feel messy, to rest without fixing anything. During grief, loving yourself might look like listening to your body, breathing through heaviness, and choosing gentleness over “strength.” Yoga can be a quiet companion here—not to heal everything, but to help you stay with yourself.

Self-love in grief is not about becoming “okay.”
It’s about staying close to yourself, exactly as you are. 🌱

✨ February with Rising Phoenix Yoga ✨

February is often called the month of love—but this year, we’re turning that love inward. This month, our focus will be self-love in times of grief.

Grief isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s quiet, heavy, or lingering beneath the surface. It can come from loss, change, endings, or versions of ourselves we’ve had to let go of. Through February, we’ll create space to move gently, breathe deeply, and practice compassion for exactly where we are.

Expect grounding practices, heart-centered movements, nervous system support, and reminders that self-love doesn’t mean “fixing” anything—it means showing up with tenderness.

You don’t have to carry it alone.
Come as you are. 💫

Rising Phoenix Yoga Update 🤍

First, I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding at the end of 2025 as I took time to grieve the loss of my mom. That space meant more to me than I can put into words.

It’s no secret that life has shifted in ways I never expected. Losing my mom changed me at my core, and with that, my yoga practice and business needs to change too.

For now, I will no longer be offering private yoga lessons. This wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s a necessary one. When you yourself are broken, you can’t truly lead someone else on their path of healing— and honoring that truth is part of who I am at my core.

That said, Rising Phoenix Yoga is not disappearing. I will still be holding meaningful, joy-filled events like puppy yoga and other offerings that bring connection, lightness, and moments of calm.

And while offerings may look different and be fewer, my social media will still be filled with supportive yoga and wellness tips, gentle practices, and inspiration you can take into your everyday life.

This season is about listening, resting, and allowing space for grief and growth to coexist. Thank you for your continued love, support, and understanding as this journey evolves. Know that Rising Phoenix Yoga is here for you in the best way I can be right now. 💛

Sometimes, the most powerful practice is knowing when to pause and heal yourself instead of others.🤍🔥

✨ Important Rising Phoenix Yoga Update ✨

As many of you know, I made the hard decision to close my studio early August to focus on my mom and her declining health. Since then, my world has shifted upside down —my mom passed away on August 27.

With that devastating loss, I feel it’s important to take the rest of 2025 to step back, grieve, and allow space for healing. Rising Phoenix Yoga will return in 2026 with new energy, offerings, and vision—but for now, I need this pause and this space for greif.

Thank you all for the love, patience, and support you’ve shown me during such a difficult season. I can’t wait to rise again with you in the new year. 🕊️💜

💔 A Difficult Announcement from My Heart

Friends,
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share.

As many of you know, Rising Phoenix Yoga has been a place of connection, stillness, and healing — not just for my students, but for me as well. This studio has been my dream come to life.

But life has a way of calling us in many directions. My mom’s health has been declining, and she and my dad need more of me right now. I’ve tried to balance everything, but I can’t give my clients the attention and energy they deserve while also caring for them in the way my heart knows I must.

With that, I’ve made the deeply painful decision to close my studio space effective September 1st.

This is not the end for Rising Phoenix Yoga — just a new chapter. While I’ll no longer have a permanent space, I will continue to create monthly wellness and yoga events where we can still come together, breathe, move, and find stillness.
Stay tuned for announcements of who I’ll be partnering with and our first wellness event coming this October.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for every class attended, every kind word, every shared laugh, and every deep breath we’ve taken together. You’ve been part of something truly special, and I hope you’ll join me in this next chapter. Love always, Mel

🌻 AUGUST THEME: GROUND & GROW 🌻

As summer begins to wind down and routines begin to shift, August invites up to re-root, realign, and prepare for personal growth - on and off the mat. School will be starting, so this month is about finding stability in transitions, reconnecting with the body, and nurturing what's quietly blooming within.
