Seasonal changes can quietly (or not so quietly) shift our sleep, energy, and mood. Giving yourself grace during seasonal transitions isn’t weakness, it’s care. Small, gentle rhythms can help you find steadiness again.

Spring brings changes in light and rhythm that can impact mood, especially for sensitive systems. If you notice shifts in mood, sleep, or energy this time of year, it makes sense. There are ways to create steadiness.

Before, an enclosure wall was in place between Professor Puffy and Princess. Sometimes distance, boundaries, and separation can be loving. Sometimes love looks like reconciliation. "Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres." 1 Cor 13:7

Now, the enclosure wall has been taken down, and they’re together. Princess, his patient and loving mom, guides him gently. Puffy, curious, and full of mischief, learns what it means to honor his mother despite their challenging history. Their reunion is more than cuteness. It's a tangible reminder of love.

On Maundy Thursday, we remember Jesus' command to “Love one another.” Love isn’t just a feeling. “Love is patient, love is kind, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” 1 Cor 13:4-5

Today, let’s each reach out and show love in a small way: whether it’s a kind word, a short message, or a thoughtful gesture for someone who needs it.

Life after brain injury can feel like you're living in a different body.

One that gets tired faster. One that doesn’t always find the right words. One that reacts differently to noise, light, and even stress.

And it can be disorienting because you remember how things used to feel.

The fatigue that doesn’t match your motivation. The way thoughts slip away mid-sentence. The overwhelm from things that once felt manageable.

If this is part of your experience, you’re not imagining it. And you’re not alone.

A brain injury can change how the brain processes and responds, but it doesn't take away your worth, your intelligence, or your identity. It just means your system is working differently now, often using more energy to do everyday things.

There’s grief in your new normal and also resilience.

Moving slower, resting more, and asking for support is not a failure. It’s you learning how to live in a body that has different needs.

Be gentle with yourself today.

Have you ever wondered why your body holds onto stress long after a difficult experience has passed?

The memory of trauma is often written into our nervous system, keeping us in a state of high alert even when we are safe. This can show up as anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional reactivity, or a feeling of being shut down. These responses are not signs of weakness. They are your body's way of trying to protect you.

In our latest blog post, we explore how trauma impacts the nervous system, why your body's survival responses make biological sense, and how understanding these patterns can support greater self-compassion and resilience. Knowledge is a powerful first step on the path toward healing. We invite you to read the full post and begin to make sense of what your body has been carrying.
