Today we say goodbye to Noelle, also sometimes lovingly called “Sergeant Noelle.”

She moved like a ninja, always appearing exactly where she was needed, caring for patients with speed, precision, and heart. Her knowledge, skill, and unwavering dedication made a difference every single day...not just for those she cared for, but for all of us lucky enough to learn from her. She’s been an incredible teacher, mentor, and teammate.

While we’ll miss her deeply, we’re so excited for her next adventure helping foster dogs around the country, lucky pups are about to be in the very best hands.

From Hell to the Fairway ⛳️

Six months ago, this patient could barely walk to the mailbox without pain shooting through his feet like fire.

After 12 brutal rounds of chemotherapy, cancer was finally behind him—but the battle wasn’t over.

The neuropathy left in its wake was excruciating.

His feet burned like they were on hot coals, his hands tingled like static electricity, and even the simplest movements felt like punishment.

Golf? That felt like a dream from another life.

But he wasn’t ready to give up.

When he walked through our doors at Chesapeake AIM, he told us, “I just want to feel human again.”

And step by step, treatment by treatment, that’s exactly what happened.

The pain eased.

The numbness faded.

The strength returned.

Yesterday, he texted us a picture from the 9th hole—grinning, club in hand, alive again.

Peripheral neuropathy can take on different forms, each with its own set of challenges.

Diabetic-induced neuropathy is caused by prolonged high blood sugar levels damaging nerves.

Chemotherapy-induced neuropathy occurs as a side effect of certain cancer treatments, impacting nerve function.

Idiopathic neuropathy, on the other hand, has no known cause.

We treat each of these three types of peripheral neuropathy here at Chesapeake AIM.
