Friendly Reminder: Summer is the time to enjoy and makes your Heart happy....
❤️ • Summer is the energy of Fire, which represents joy, laughter, passion, love, and growth, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. In ‘Huangdi Neijing’ aka ‘The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Medicine’ (it’s an ancient Chinese medical text, the fundamental doctrinal source for Chinese medicine), it is said that the body’s five Zang (yin) internal organs have close relationship with the five elements: Liver belongs to Wood, Heart — to Fire, Spleen/Stomach — to Earth, Lungs — to Metal, and Kidneys — to water.
During summer season, Heart and Spleen/Stomach (Spleen and Stomach resonate with late summer’s energetic vibration) are the most important organs to be looked after. We must pay attention to external heat, summer dampness and humidity as well as an excessive Yang (male/hot) energy.
Here are a few of TCM tips for your summer health:
💛 Get up early in the morning
💙 Drink plenty of fluids (if you forget, set an alarm reminder on your phone)
💚 Eat more yin, ‘cooling’ foods, which are light, less greasy, e. g., green salads, vegetables such as celery, lettuce, cucumber, watermelon, watercress to generate healthy body fluids
❤️ Eat in moderation, avoid overeating, avoid heavy foods, overly spiced foods, and ice cold foods like ice-cream since they cause the digestive system to slow down
🤎 Less coffee, more green and mint tea
🖤 Avoid intense training/exercises; and instead focus on practicing Yoga, ChiGong, Tai Chi, slow running, and swimming which would be ideal
🤍 Don’t worry, be happy! Worry, anxiety and overthinking are the emotions associated with the Stomach and Spleen, and these emotions in excess have a negative impact on your digestive health.
🌞 Hence, summer is the time to enjoy, make your heart happy, so make sure to experience things and events that bring joy and smile on your face. 🙂
