Let’s talk about ovarian cysts. What are they exactly? Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs which grow on our almond sized ovaries. Ovarian cysts are very common and usually go away without treatment. While most are painless, some of us are “lucky” enough to have a stubborn cyst that decides to hang on and grow enough that it makes you think your appendix is going to rupture. I was convinced that the terrible right sided pain was my appendix, however after a CT and pelvic ultrasound that pesky pain was a 6.1cm cyst on my right o***y. After seeing my OBGYN it was decided that removal of the cyst was necessary with the possibility of removal of the o***y. Once a surgery date was set, I did everything I could do to prep my body especially my pelvic floor for the upcoming surgery. I focused on mobility, breath work, and quality body mechanics in efforts to avoid the cyst rupturing. During surgery my o***y was removed due to multiple cysts which the right choice for my body. Post-op recovery consisted of following my restrictions, slowly getting back into comfortable movement routines, working on hip mobility managing my incisions, and progressing to scar massage once the incisions were healed. I share this because the unknown is scary and the more we discuss our own experiences the more we can help one another through these speed bumps in our lives.

Here's a detailed description. ⬇️

📌 Stand, squat, sit over the top of a handheld mirror, or lay on a bed with your legs spread, making sure you can see your ge****ls clearly.

📌 Check the area where your p***c hair grows. Look for any moles, spots, lesions, bumps, lumps, rashes, white raised lesions, red spots, pimples, or wart-like growths.

📌 Next, find your cl****is. Look for any growths, bumps, or discoloration.

📌 Check your l***a majora (the outer lips) and feel for any bumps. Also, visually look for any moles, rashes, growths, lesions, white raised lesions, red spots or pimples or wart-like growths, open sores, lumps, etc

📌 Repeat this check with your l***a minora (the inner lips).

📌 Finally, look at your perineum. The perineum is the space located between the va**na and the a**s. Again, look for rashes, bumps, growths, and lesions.

🚨 If you see something, say something! Report anything suspicious or abnormal to your doctor. Even if it seems to be small it's, important that you do. Vulvar cancer is very treatable if detected early.

There are no screenings for Vulvar Cancer. The ONLY 100% sure way to rule out or diagnose this cancer is a biopsy.
