For those who are new here or just finding us, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a little about our Music and Movement classes.
My name is Alicia, and I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist since 2011. I have been running Music and Movement classes in Schuyler County since 2022, and this program has truly become a passion of mine.
So what exactly is Music and Movement?
Although the name highlights music and movement, each class includes a variety of engaging activities beyond just singing songs. During class we use parachute play, bubbles, drums, egg shakers, scarves, and several other fun props to help children learn and move along to different types of music. Children engage with other children, caregivers connect with one another, and everyone participates together.
These classes support so many important developmental skills including physical development, pretend play, balance, coordination, social interaction, turn taking, transitioning from one activity to another, and breathing and body awareness, all in a playful and supportive environment.
Our age range for class is one to seven years old, with optimal ages being two, three, four, and five. That said, our youngest kiddo to ever sign up was just five months old, and he has continued to grow with us over time. It is truly so cool to watch the skills they build and strengthen as the months go by.
Affordability is very important to me, and pricing has been intentionally kept accessible so families, including those with multiple children, can participate. The cost is $60 per month, which includes all three classes for the month and covers up to two siblings and their caregiver(s).
If you are looking for a fun, developmentally supportive class where your child can move, learn, and connect, while you connect with other parents too, we would love to have you join us.
January classes begin Tuesday, January 13, at the Montour Falls Fire Hall at 5:30 p.m.
