We started our practice after seeing a shortage of speech, feeding and specialty clinics in the West Texas area. We wanted to provide services to patients of all ages who had deficits in speech/language, to the less common and more severe deficits of feeding, swallowing, stuttering, and orofacial myofunctional disorders (mouth muscle disorders/functioning) that many times are the underlying reason for speech and eating deficits. We believe that we should never stop learning, and pride ourselves in practicing the best and latest in evidence based practices. We get to the root of the problem and address breathing, jaw, tongue muscles, and mouth postures before addressing speech for best outcomes. We have developed a collaborative team of professionals with whom we work closely to treat our tongue tied patients, and infants with IBCLCs, dentists, and others. These providers are some with whom we share philosophys and who have had additional training in orofacial disorders and tethered oral tissues. We have the only speech-language pathologist and certified orofacial myologist (COM) in this whole area. Our goal is to continue to expand, treat, and educate our West Texas Community.
