Family Services Funeral Parlor was opened in 2002 after Victor Woods, Jr. decided he could offer his hometown community much better service at a much better price than the existing “big corporation” owned funeral home. He and his mother, Kay Woods Judd, started the business together and for several years were the only full time employees. In 2003, Vic met and married another longtime Kermit/Odessa

resident, Amy Hudson Woods. As they began to consider growth opportunities for the business, Amy encouraged them to consider West Odessa – an area sorely in need of a funeral service provider. They found a home on West University and started discussing a possible name for the new location. The name “Acres West” was a top contender as it seemed to capture the spirit of the West Odessa area – an area populated by independent minded folk who often have livestock on their property and boots by their front doors. The name was clinched when at closing on the property it was discovered that the subdivision was named “Westover Acres.” It was a God thing. In order to successfully operate two locations, Vic and Kay needed some full time help. In exchange for going to school, getting licensed, and helping to build the business from the ground up – they gave shares in the business to a local friend and Amy’s brother, John Hudson. The summer of 2005, while these two were at school, Kay and Vic enlisted the help of Vic’s father-in-law (John and Amy’s father – Jerald Hudson) and Kay’s husband in remodeling and adding on to the small home on West University, slowly turning it into the comfortable and spacious funeral home you see today. Officially opening the doors in November of 2005, Acres West began a quest to offer the community a more homelike, relaxed atmosphere where the families served are our number one priority. Some staff has married in, and some longtime employees we have adopted in that we cannot imagine being without. We have also seen a couple of shareholders go on their own way due to divorce and differences of opinion on the directions in which the company should go. However, Vic remains in Odessa as the anchor that holds it all together and John is a permanent fixture at the Kermit location. Although still a work in progress, continually expanding and adding on to better serve the Permian Basin, they are proud to still be the only funeral home in Odessa continually operated by a family born and raised in the Permian Basin and proud to still be residents of Odessa and Kermit. Acres West Funeral Chapel is the only funeral home in Odessa where the same person is likely to greet you at the door, help you with your funeral planning, and fix the plumbing when it goes out! Travis Alexander Pardue, known lovingly to many as “LT,” passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 34. Born on September 9, 1991, in Odessa, Texas, he lived a life marked by creativity, loyalty, humor, and a deep devotion to the people he loved. Travis was the kind of person who made an impression wherever he went, and his presence will be remembered with great affection by all who knew him.

Travis was the beloved son of Christy Duley and her husband Todd Duley, and Travis Pardue and his wife Wendy Pardue. He was a cherished brother to Tara Duley, Jacob Pardue and his wife Lillian Jordan, Candyce Carrette and her husband Alejandro Carrette, Hayley Pardue, Lucas Pardue, and Brett Waller. He was deeply loved by his grandparents Kermon and Lois Pardue, as well as by numerous cousins and friends. He was also a proud uncle to a niece & nephews; Gwen, Finn & Tucker. Travis was preceded in death by his Uncle Russell Pardue, his grandparents Tommy and Nancie Choate-Bo and MooMoo, and his great-grandmothers Grandma Faye Funk and Jane Woods Memi.

Travis attended Odessa High School and carried with him the spirit of his hometown throughout his life. From a young age, he found his calling in tattooing, beginning the craft when he was just 17 or 18 years old. Through hard work, dedication, and natural talent, he grew from apprentice to shop owner. Tattooing was more than a career to Travis. It was his passion, his art, and one of the ways he expressed the creativity that defined so much of who he was.

Art and music were important to Travis from an early age, and his interests reflected a life lived with energy and individuality. He was outgoing, friendly, generous, loving, and productive, and he treated everyone the same. Those who knew him will remember his warm spirit, his selfless nature, and the way he cared more about others than himself. He was known for being late, for his unforgettable laugh, and for his goofy sense of humor that could brighten any room. He was soberly challenged and extremely talented, and he carried himself with a rare combination of strength and tenderness.

Travis loved traveling and especially enjoyed road trips. One of his most unforgettable adventures was a recent trip to Columbia with his tattoo family member Mike. He also loved guns and shooting, and he enjoyed hunting. In more recent times, he had begun gardening and sewing, showing once again that he was always willing to explore new interests and learn new skills. His favorite color was any shade of black, a fitting reflection of his style and personality.

Above all else, Travis loved his family. His five siblings and his cousins held a special place in his heart, and the greatest day of his life was the day his baby brother Jacob was born. He was protective, loving, generous, and deeply devoted to those closest to him. He often said, “I love you so much,” and those words now stand as a lasting reminder of the tenderness he shared so freely. He also often said, “worm,” “what up,” “dude,” and “bro,” phrases that will forever bring his voice and personality to mind for those who loved him.

Travis Alexander Pardue will be remembered for his talent, his kindness, his humor, and the love he gave so openly. His life touched many, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made was lasting, and the love he shared will never be forgotten.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Heart & Dagger Tattoo Shop Friday May 22, at 3:00pm. 2812 West County Rd Odessa, Tx 79764

In Loving Memory of Shane Roby Gatamngin Jr.

With heavy hearts and deep love, we celebrate the life of Shane Roby Gatamngin Jr. “Shane Shane”, a young man whose time on earth was far too short, but whose impact will last forever.

Shane Roby Gatamngin Jr. was born on May 14, 2009, in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, to his loving parents, Joyleen Roby and Shane Gatamngin. On May 11, 2026, at the age of 16, Shane passed away in Lubbock, Texas and was called home to be with his Father in Heaven.

Shane was the definition of cool: nonchalant, laid-back, and effortlessly himself. He had a unique style that blended clean-cut looks with streetwear, always carrying himself with quiet confidence. Whether he was dressed up or keeping it casual, he made everything look easy.

A naturally gifted gamer, Shane had a calm and collected demeanor that made him a fierce competitor. He also had a special talent on the basketball court, where his hall-of-fame-level shooting skills earned him plenty of respect. As the biggest fan of Stephen Wardell Curry, he proudly cheered for Golden State Warriors and admired Curry’s legendary sharpshooting abilities.

He also loved playing volleyball with his family and those closest to him. He enjoyed staying active as well as creating lasting memories with the people he loved.

Music was a huge part of his life, and his playlist reflected his open mind and appreciation for all genres. Whether he was relaxing, gaming, or hanging out with family and friends, there was always music nearby.

Shane was incredibly funny once you got to know him. He had a way of making people laugh and feel comfortable. He was thoughtful, considerate, and genuinely kind. Above all else, Shane deeply loved his family and friends. He was fiercely protective of those he cared about, especially his mother, who knew him as her protector and one of her greatest blessings. His love was steady, loyal, and unconditional.

He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including his love for McDonald’s chicken sandwiches and his unforgettable trips to the beautiful beaches of Cancun. He took pride in taking care of himself and paid attention to the little things, always keeping himself neat and clean.

Most importantly, Shane loved his Father in Heaven and had great faith in God.

Although his life was brief, it was filled with love, laughter, talent, and unforgettable moments. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and authenticity. His cool spirit, loving heart, and protective nature will forever live on in all who knew and loved him.

Until we meet again, keep shooting like Curry, keep the music playing, and know you will always be loved and never forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory are his Mother, Joyleen Roby; Father, Shane Gatamngin; Grandmothers, Carmela Ezra and Barbara Gatamngin; Sisters, Shariane Gatamngin and Shanialyn Gatamngin; Brother, Kobe Gatamngin; Nephew, Jakari Bars; as well as many uncles, aunties, cousins, and extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather, Nelson Roby, Paternal Grandfather, John Gatamngin, and Godfather, Joseph Meeyog.

Visitation will begin Sunday May 24th and continue the following day May 25th in the 24-hour chapel.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday May 26th at 10am at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in the Mercy Garden section.
