Ector County Health Department The ECHD provides services for Immunizations, Food, Sanitation, Water Quality, and More!

The Ector County Health Department is responsible for the development, integration and coordination of communicable disease control activities, environmental and consumer health protection programs, and public health promotion in Ector County. These community health services include the containment of vaccine preventable diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis and food-borne illnesses. Food service sanitation, environmental enforcement, water quality, waste water control, vector control, and the investigation of sanitation complaints are environmental health services performed by Ector County Health Department personnel. The Water Quality Program is responsible for the following activities:
• Reviewing the design of on-site sewage systems (OSSFs)
• Inspecting new OSSFs
• Inspecting public and semi-public swimming pools annually
• Educating swimming pool operators by conducting “Pool School” annually
• Investigating complaints
• Checking properties with new electrical connections for proper septic systems
• Interpreting Water Well Samples for homeowners
• Educating homeowners

Odessa Emergency Preparedness Fair

The 2025 Emergency Preparedness Fair will be on Saturday, September 13th from 10am-2pm at the Ector County Coliseum (Barn A), located at 4201 Andrews Highway. This free community/family event better prepares you for all types of emergencies.

OFR will teach Stop the Bleed classes and OPD will teach Women’s Self-Defense classes and two C.R.A.S.E. (Civilian Response to an Active Shooter Event) Trainings: 10am-12pm & 12pm-2pm. Odessa Fire Rescue, Dispatch, OPD Crime Scene Unit, and Odessa Animal Control will be on hand with helpful resources.

Other agencies include the Red Cross, 2-1-1, the Ector County Health Department, the Ector County Sheriff's Office, the National Weather Service, Basin Lighthouse, PermiaCare, Oceans Behavioral Hospital, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, and the Crisis Center of West Texas.

Odessa Animal Services will also hold an Adoption Clinic which will be $27 (Cash Only). This includes Spay/Neuter, Rabies Vaccine, Microchip, Flea & Tick Prevention, Parvo, Distemper & Giardia testing, and all other vaccines the animal has received since being at the Odessa Animal Shelter.
