A Myofascial Restriction is a tight hardened fascia (connective tissue). It does not show up in standard radiologic tests. A restriction occurs following injury, trauma, inflammation, scarring or surgery, and can continue to tighten over time creating pain. Since all of the standardize tests do not show fascial restrictions, it is thought that an extremely high percentage of people suffering with pain may be having fascial problems, and most go undiagnosed. At Inspired Body Therapy, we use safe gentle hands-on effective techniques to identify and release the restrictions that drag your body’s system. We then apply a variety of pressures in combination with stretch and motion to release tensions, restrictions, eliminate pain and increase motion for a pain-free active life style. Bodywork isn’t about the technique. It’s about intention. It’s about feeling. Once you place your hand, silence the mind, listen, and feel. That’s when the magic happens.

The Future of a Generation: Hyperkyphosis from Excessive Screen Use 😬

We’re witnessing a troubling trend — the posture of a generation being reshaped by screens. Hours spent hunched over phones, tablets, and laptops are leading to a condition known as hyperkyphosis — an excessive forward curvature of the upper spine.

What was once seen mostly in the elderly is now appearing in teenagers and young adults, their necks craned downward for hours each day. The constant strain on the spine, shoulders, and neck muscles gradually alters posture, causing the classic “tech neck” or hunchback appearance.

Beyond looks, the consequences run deeper: chronic pain, reduced lung capacity, nerve compression, and long-term musculoskeletal damage. Doctors warn that these posture issues, left unchecked, could become one of the most widespread lifestyle-induced deformities of the 21st century.

It’s a silent epidemic of our digital age — one text, one scroll, one slouch at a time.

Emotions

Emotion is a Greek word, meaning ‘to move’. It is basically the power that moves and drives our body and physiological processes. Our emotions are also a very powerful and important vibratory communication system.

Many times, in the beginning of my myofascial release seminars, I run into a therapist who's just petrified of a thought that the patient/client may get emotional and I kind of chuckle and say to them, “What's the big deal? Have you ever heard of anybody being injured by crying? In fact, don't we all feel better and lighter after we cry?”

I highly recommend, ‘Molecules of Emotion: The Science Behind Mind-Body Medicine’, a book by Dr. Candace Pert, whose research developed the endorphin theory. She describes how emotions flow through the body as the neuropeptide system.

We were brought up to believe that we are thinking brains and our role was to conceptualize everything, thinking and talking incessantly, otherwise we would have no value. This is our beloved Channel 5 😊.

In actuality, Channel 3 is our emotional and intuitive being and is a deeper, more important role, for which Channel 5 is a small part of. We are actually feeling minds that perceive the world through feelings and emotions. The neuropeptides run through the microtubules of the fascial system at an enormous speed and as they connect with the thinking brain, this is when authentic healing occurs !

Is it possible that emotions are the energy and language of the universe ?

When we have stifled our emotions, they become buried in the fascial system and instead of being the energy that drives us, keeping us healthy and vibrant, they become a heavy weight that drags us down. This creates a distorted filter, filled with negativity, which clouds our intellectual, conceptual concepts of our beautiful intellect.

Our goal with myofascial release is to help the individual return to a pain-fee, active lifestyle !

To accomplish this, we need to lessen the internal pressure from the restrictions and create an open system that is less viscous and more fluid. This enables our consciousness and the neuropeptides/emotions to flow through unimpeded. The learning that comes on our path of myofascial release is beautiful and never-ending. Enjoy yourself !

Love,
John
