What is care credit?
It's a healthcare credit card designed to make paying for medical and wellness services more flexible. You can use it for:
•Prenatal care
•Birth
•Postpartum visits
•Women's wellness visits
and so much more outside of our center as well!

Why it helps:
•You can make smaller, more affordable payments to cover the cost of your medical services
•Lower, deferred interest makes it cheaper than using a regular credit card
•Can be used for dental work, veterinarian services, and even cosmetic treatments on top of your care here.

We have seen this card help many women, and it is an amazing resource when insurance doesn't cover your care. You can see if you are pre-approved at carecredit.com

Umbilical cord, your baby's lifeline.

Aside from delivering oxygen to the baby via the placenta and mom, it also:

-Is Stronger Than You Think Inch for inch, the umbilical cord is tougher than leather — it can withstand quite a lot of pulling and twisting without damage.

-Can Have “Knots” Babies sometimes form true knots during pregnancy from moving around. Most are harmless because Wharton’s jelly keeps blood flow intact.

-Can Glow in the Dark Under a blacklight, umbilical cords can give off a faint bluish glow due to collagen and connective tissue in Wharton’s jelly.

-The average cord has ~40 helical twists, which actually help keep the vessels open and prevent compression.

-About 1 in 100 cords have just one artery and one vein — called a “two-vessel cord” — and many babies are still perfectly healthy.

-Ultrasound often shows babies grabbing, squeezing, or playing with their cord in the womb.

-The longest recorded human umbilical cord was over 6 feet long! The average length is 22 inches long.

-It Starts Tiny At just 5 weeks pregnant, the cord is only a few millimeters long, and grows with the baby until birth.

-In the womb, the cord is often looped loosely around the baby’s body — sometimes even the neck — without causing harm.

In the case of a non-emergency transfer (which is the most common kind), the process is very seamless, and we are within a 1 min drive from a hospital at both of our locations.

No one has to watch your kids overnight. You get to sleep in your own bed. In and out the same day!
That's the birth center difference 💜

Vitamins and minerals from whole foods are always best and most easily absorbed by our bodies. However, there are many different reasons why we might not meet our recommended daily intake of these vital vitamins and minerals through foods (especially during pregnancy)
Supplements are a wonderful tool to bridge the gap between what we consume through food and what our bodies still need. They aren't magic pills that make it okay to avoid all fruits and veggies- but they are wonderful!!
If you are planning on becoming pregnant within the next year, or if you are currently pregnant, I recommended finding a prenatal vitamin that has at least:
🤰27 mg of iron
‣ Both you and baby need iron to keep your blood and bodies oxygenated and healthy

🤰400 mcg of folic acid / folate
‣ Folic acid helps prevent neural tube defects and helps tissues grow and function properly

🤰600 IU of vitamin DVitamin D helps the body absorb more Calcium- which is necessary for healthy bone growth

🤰1000 mg of calcium (or 1300 if you are between the ages of 14-18).
Calcium is crucial in allowing the baby to develop strong bones!

🤰200-300 mg DHA & EPA (omega 3)
•Omega 3s are essential for fetal brain and eye development

🤰Vitamin A as "BETA CAROTENE" and NOT "retinyl" as the retinyl form can cause fetal malformations.

Please also talk to your women's health provider about supplements as certain conditions or medical histories will call for higher doses of some vitamins and minerals to keep you and baby healthy.

I hope this is helpful! What other questions do you have about prenatal care?
