We’re grateful for the wonderful care our residents receive from Wasatch Podiatry with Dr. Susan Agres 👣💙. This outside service comes right into our community, making it easy and convenient for our residents to get the foot care they need without ever leaving home!

🥳We celebrated Harriet’s 100th Birthday today!!!

A little life story about Harriet: Harriet was born in Pearl City, Hawaii on August 20th, 1925. Harriet’s name was changed from “Fusako” to Harriet when she began school. She had an American school teacher who made all of the children choose an American name. Her choices were “Hortense” or “Harriet.” When Harriet was about 17-18 years old, she was present and sitting on her front lawn at her home in Pearl City when the invasion of Pearl Harbor occurred. She saw the Japanese planes fly over to begin the attack. The families were all sent to hide in the sugar cane fields. Harriet’s occupation was a civilian Accountant for the US Navy in Honolulu, Hawaii. Harriet was a lifelong resident of Hawaii until her move to Utah in 2008. Harriet was an avid golfer and worked diligently to support local golf leagues. Harriet travelled extensively to Europe, Canada, Japan, etc. with her husband Ron until his death in 1991. She then travelled with her girlfriends on golf outings all over the Hawaiian Islands. She truly loved the sport, and had a golf handicap of 15-16. Harriet loved to play the stock market and was very good at it. Harriet loved to garden, she grew Taro and all sorts of vegetables. She also grew Orchids and Anthuriums. Harriet loves the ocean but does not swim, she doesn’t like to be in water. Harriet loves the warm weather. Harriet loves a nice cup of hot tea. Harriet has been a part of our community for 15 years now. Harriet enjoys visiting, puzzles, listening to music, playing table tennis, and baking. It’s been an honor having Harriet as part of our community.

I want to introduce everyone to our new Memory Care Director, Taya Rose! We are so excited to have her and she already feels like one of the family. She has dove right in, gives support where ever she can, and cares about our residents! 💕

Here are a few words from Taya.

Hi, I’m Taya! I am the new Memory Care Director A little bit about me-I’ve been in healthcare since I was 16 and have loved every step of the journey, from working in hospitals and dialysis centers to assisted living. Caring for people is truly my passion, and one day I hope to be a hospice nurse so I can bring comfort and support to people and their families during some of life’s most meaningful moments. When I’m not working, you can usually find me curled up with a good book, laughing with my family (especially my niece and nephews), or planning my next trip to beautiful Oregon. I’m super excited to get to know all of you and be part of this amazing community!♥️

What does that mean?
💖 A Montessori Inspired Lifestyle Credential means that these locations are top-of-class when it comes to community, inclusion, and purpose. These elements are woven into the everyday lives of our residents through social roles and a focus on meaningful activities. That could look like joining a resident committee to choose next week’s dessert menu, becoming a Resident Ambassador to welcome new neighbors, or finding another way to connect with the community that aligns with a resident’s unique skills and interests.

🌲 Meet Barry!

A former horse ranch owner and skilled arborist, Barry has brought his green thumb to our community! He’s taken it upon himself to care for our trees and bushes. He helps keep everything looking pretty and thriving. We are so lucky to have his knowledge, kindness, and love for the outdoors right here at home! 🏔️

We believe that everyone deserves a sense of purpose, to be engaged, and have an amazing quality of life.

⭐️ Resident Spotlight!

Meet one of our lovely residents Barbara. Barbara has called our community home for a year and a half, and we love having her here. She says the best part is the people, the fun activities, and getting her hair done.

In her free time, Barbara enjoys sewing, cooking, and relaxing with some coloring. A silly fact? As a teen she loved to chase boys. And one of her favorite memories is her first date with her husband, they went crow hunting!

We are so lucky to have Barbara here.
