We’re so excited to welcome Emmy to our Higher Ground teaching family!

A little about Emmy:
Yoga found Emmy during one of the hardest seasons of her life as a newly postpartum mom feeling disconnected and overwhelmed, she was searching for a way back to herself.

What began as a physical practice soon became so much more. Breath by breath, pose by pose, yoga helped her reconnect with her body, her joy, and her sense of wholeness. In 2025, Emmy completed our 200-hour Foundational teacher training with Lauren Christian and she’s passionate about sharing the same therapeutic, grounding, and empowering experience with others.

When she’s not teaching yoga, Emmy loves painting, drawing, and is currently working toward her art teaching certification—bringing creativity and curiosity into everything she does.

Emmy will be subbing for Lauren tomorrow 7/26 for our 11 AM Vinyasa and 3 PM Yinyasa

Come roll out your mat and help us give her a warm Higher Ground welcome! 💛

At Higher Ground Hot Yoga, we get it.
Sometimes you come to sweat.
Sometimes you come to sob in the back corner and breathe through it.
Either way, you’re welcome here. No judgment. Just come as you are.

Please join us in welcoming Alesha to the Higher Ground teaching team!

Alesha is not only a dedicated Higher Ground Hot Yoga practitioner but also a professional stuntwoman who brings a grounded, mindful, and deeply embodied approach to her teaching. She weaves breath, movement, and presence into every class, creating a space that feels both alive and calming.

She’ll be subbing tonight’s 5:30 PM Slow Flow class for Sarah and we’d love for you to come experience her powerful yet gentle energy on the mat.

Let’s show her some Higher Ground love and make her feel right at home!

Poise. Power. Presence.
There’s nothing quite like witnessing our 26+2 lead teacher and studio manager, , in her element—embodying the strength, balance, and grace that come from dedicated practice.

This Standing Bow Pulling Pose reminds us that freedom isn’t a destination—it’s a sensation that rises from within when we commit to showing up for ourselves.

Let your breath lead. Let your body open. Let this be a day of presence and possibility. Happy 4th of July from all of us at Higher Ground Hot Yoga.

06/03/2025

7:00 a.m.

I’m lying in savasana, flat on my back, in a puddle of my own sweat—somewhere between “zen” and questioning all my life choices—including why I ever thought hot yoga sounded like a good idea.

But also… I feel grateful.
Grateful my body showed up. Grateful I didn’t pass out. Just Grateful

Class just ended. The room is still. My mind is calm. My body’s buzzing.

I’m already thinking about the cold plunge waiting for me in the Ogden River. That cold water has never looked so good.

I’ve been told for years that I’m “too muscle bound,” that I get injured because I’m not flexible. And honestly… maybe they weren’t wrong. After my fourth ACL tear, I realized something had to give. That’s when my friend Brandon suggested I try 5 a.m. yoga with him.

Now, if you know me, you know I don’t just casually “try” things. If I commit—I go all in. Mind, body, heart, soul. No halfway. No dipping a toe. Just cannonballing into the fire (in this case, literally).

So I showed up. I kept showing up.
I breathe through discomfort.
I stretch a little deeper.
I reach a little further.
I put my knee on my forehead... this is what I Knee-head...;)

And I’m proud of how my body is responding. Weak things are becoming strong. My tolerance for 105° heat is no longer laughable. And the abs? Well… they’re thinking about making an appearance. Not quite washboard yet, but maybe like a lightly used cutting board. We’ll take it.

More than the physical, something else has shifted.
I now start my days early, with intention.
I sit in stillness, in prayer and meditation, before class begins.
It’s become a blessing I didn’t know I needed.

I’ve made friends. I’ve found focus. I’ve gained perspective.
And yeah—if I’m going through something tough, you might catch me saying, “Just breathe about it,” like my instructor always says.

Higher Ground Hot Yoga has changed me.
It’s no longer just something I do—it’s something I crave.

Only a few months in, and I can already feel it:
Body, mind, and soul all stretching, reaching, and striving for more.
