It is with a very heart that we announce the passing of Lieutenant Steve Rembold (Ret’d) of the Oil City Police department.

Steve lived a life dedicated to the service of others. He spent 33 years in emergency services. 10 of those years in service to the Oil City Community.

There aren’t words to describe the loss of this great man. Steve was always willing to help anyone, he was patient , understanding , and funny too!

Steve had incredible strength , when faced with the news that he had cancer and only months to live Steve fought hard. Defying the odds and living almost 3 more years.

Please join us in prayers for Steve’s family at this time, (both blood and blue). May comfort be brought to them knowing the legacy he leaves behind. Continue to remember them as the hard days come, let them always be reminded that in this family , “no one fights alone”

LT Rembold thank you for your service and sacrifice. Thank you for dedicating your life to helping others. Rest easy now , you’ve done your duty well , we will take it from here!

“ You have never truly lived until you have done something for someone who could never repay you”

Today is a bittersweet day in Oil City!
Today after 33 years in emergency services Lieutenant Steve Rembold officially retired!
Hired at OCPD in 2011 he served as an Oil City Police Officer for 10 years thats:

10 years...
he put that badge on his chest and swore to protect and serve
122 months
He patrolled the streets day and night to keep us safe
530 weeks
He put his life on the line for this city
3,709 days
he said Goodbye to his family and walked out the door not knowing if he would ever walk back in.
Countless holidays, birthdays, sporting events and other special occasions missed all to protect people he has never met, people who wish him harm , people who could never repay him.

It is hard to put into words A long career of service like the one Steve has given this city.
To say he changed lives is an understatement, no matter what he came upon each day he never stopped upholding the oath he took. Even faced with the worst news possible, a cancer diagnosis with poor prognosis couldn’t stop him. Not only did he surpass the time line he was given he even worked during some of that time too! The strength this man has is second to none.
There is nothing more I could wish for him to enjoy his retirement with his love by his side, enjoying time with his children, and whatever adventures life brings.
Please help me congratulate Leutienant Steve Rembold on a long career well served!
A leader a hero a mentor and a friend!

Please feel free to share any impacts he has had on you as well!

Great news from the rembold family ..... Update on Steve today:
After three rounds of 2 Chemos and Immunotherapy infusions, 10 Direct Radiation Treatments, Gamma Knife Radiosurgery on 4 Tumors on his Brain, the Doctor office called a little earlier today to tell us that the CT Scan he had done yesterday showed that he IS responding to the treatments! He has 16 + tumors in his body and the ones in his lungs and liver show shrinkage. We are currently half way through the Chemos and Immunotherapy Treatments with his next one scheduled this Monday. After six rounds, he will still get maintenance doses every three weeks indefinitely as long as his body is able to handle the Chemo. Please continue praying for him, that he continues to respond and his body continues to handle all of the Chemos and Immunotherapy they infuse. We will be having a follow up MRI to monitor the tumors on his Brain, as well as another CT Scan after the next three rounds of infusions. We appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers, for his health and all of the traveling for treatments between Erie and Pittsburgh. Staying on the path fighting with everything! Hearts and Spirits are lifted in the Rembold house tonight!

I can’t even begin to tell you how thankful I am to post this update from the family...the prayers are working keep them coming.... From the Rembold’s:

“Blessed news!
Since we’ve spoken to our Family, we wanted to make a post to reach out to our Friends and Community on a Medical update for Steve:
He has now undergone 2 rounds/cycles each of 2 Chemotherapy and 1 Immunotherapy infusions with more scheduled, aimed at both lungs’ tumors, five different bone location tumors, and 2 liver tumors.
Currently he is getting daily Radiation Treatments to the larger tumor in his right lung.
We spoke with the Radiation Oncologist Monday and he said that Steve clinically appears to be responding to all of the above treatments thus far and is stable enough now to add another treatment.
So next week Steve will be undergoing Gamma Knife Radiosurgery on the two tumors on his brain. At that point, all of the cancerous tumors in his body will have received treatment in one way or another with more continuing in search of complete healing.
Thank you everyone who has kept us in your thoughts, prayers, and sent well wishes to us. Please continue to do so. 🙏”

We would like to thank Vo-tech for hosting the event , and ALL of the staff. From the Culinary students to protective services... when you begin to name names you are sure to forget someone so instead of risking that We will simply say, Thank you Votech we couldn’t have done this without you!

We are so overwhelmed and humbled by the amount of people that showed up last night. People that normally wouldn’t even be in the same room as each other, sat and ate a meal, what a great tribute to Lieutenant Rembold. And a great way to show him the impact he had on this community. We had the idea but you guys made it happen!!! We could never thank you enough! Seeing this community coming together was something We will never forget!
