🐸 Incredible Frog Survival Tactic!
Scientists have just documented something amazing: female European common frogs are faking their own deaths to escape overzealous males during mating season! In the middle of chaotic breeding frenzies, when males often outnumber females, some frogs enter a rigid, motionless state called tonic immobility—essentially “playing dead”—to avoid injury or drowning.
This is the first time death-feigning has been recorded as a mating avoidance strategy in frogs, a behavior previously only seen in predator encounters. Nature truly equips even the smallest creatures with astonishing survival tricks!
