Reins of H.O.P.E.

Reins of H.O.P.E. Reins of H.O.P.E. offers a unique cutting edge form of mental health services partnering with horses as an experiential form of learning. (Ojai, Ca)

Reins of HOPE is a non-profit organization that offers Equine assisted psychotherapy and learning sessions conducted on the ground. It is based on the relationship one develops with the horse within a 60 minute session. Our fundraiser events' mission is to raise enough money to provide free sessions to veterans, active military, and at-risk youth. We also provide individual, family, groups, businesses, and other organizations the equine psychotherapy sessions on a fee basis. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning is one of the most effective forms of experiential therapy. So far this year, Reins of HOPE has provided close to 700 equine assisted sessions. We cover Ventura County, Santa Barbara, Solvang, Santa Ynez, and Malibu.

🐴
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our dear, handsome gelding, Scooter.

Scooter was truly loved by anyone and everyone who had the blessing of crossing his path. He lived a beautiful life and held a sacred place in our herd—and in our hearts. Through Reins of Hope programming, camps, and outreach, Scooter quietly and faithfully served our community, touching the hearts and minds of countless veterans, first responders, and youth with his steady presence and boundless kindness.

He passed peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him dearly. In his final moments, there was a gentle breeze in the air and a warm, comforting energy—an unmistakable reminder of the grace he carried throughout his life. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we are deeply grateful for the time we were given with such a remarkable soul.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to all who experienced Scooter’s companionship, along with his big, dorky, loving and positive energy. His spirit lives on in the lessons he taught, the calm he offered, and the love he gave so freely.

Scooter is survived by his herd—Lucy, Sisi, Sister, Hope, and Cowgirl Blue—as well as the Reins of Hope board, staff, and volunteers who will carry his memory forward with deep love and gratitude.

Run free, sweet Scooter.
Forever part of our herd and our hearts. 🤍🐴

🎄🐴 Reminder: Reins of Hope Open Barn – This Saturday 🐴🎄

This Saturday from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM is our last Open Barn of the year, and we’d love to see you there! We’re keeping it festive with a Christmas theme, complete with s’mores, hot chocolate, good food, and even better company. ☕🔥🤍

Come out and spend time with the horses, connect with the community, and enjoy the kind of togetherness that makes this place so special. Our Open Barns bring together veterans, first responders, youth, families, and friends through the power of equine-assisted psychotherapy, shared space, and meaningful connection.

Good people. Warm treats. Horses. Community.

What a night! 🐎❤️ 🕺 💃
The weather was great and the fundraiser was a beautiful success! We are filled with gratitude for every single person who showed up—our volunteers, board members, staff, supporters, families, friends, and community members. Your presence, your heart, and your dedication made last night possible.

Events like this don’t happen without this community coming together, believing in our mission, and showing up with love and purpose. We truly couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for helping us continue to serve our veterans, first responders, at-risk youth, and all those who find healing through our horses and ranch environment.
