I took this photo for our vet — he needed to assess where the best spot was to set up his equipment to float our horses teeth (google horse teeth floating). I happened to catch our kitty in the frame - such a pleasant surprise! ⠀⠀⠀

No man is an island (no cow is either) — ⠀

Now, more than ever, we are all feeling our interconnected and interdependent humanity, eh? Even as we are physically separate, we can sense our collective vulnerability, grief, courage and strength. For me, everyday brings different and sometimes unforeseen or unclear emotions due to Covid — how are others doing? how it will impact worlds, big and small? What is our darkest hour that we have yet to experience? How will we adapt and come together as a global society? So many questions... sending love to all beings as you hold the unknown in your body, minds and hearts. We are all with you. We are all in the same boat. 💛⠀

A gentle idea to move that beautiful body of yours - some hip circles there, some shoulder rolls over here, some back rib breathing in the car — these little movements are just as important as a full yoga class. Mini yoga breaks help us check in with how our bodies and minds are feeling as we move through our day! ⠀

Yoga today! 10-11:15am. ⠀

Along with balance work, we will encourage our breath to move into our low rib cage - breathing lower in our trunk helps calm our nervous system. Our hands and arms can provide reference points to guide our breath where we want it to go. Try it! Wrap your arms behind your back in a way that feels easy (maybe hands are what connect, not forearms). Let your arms rest into your mid back. Gently send your breath to your back low ribs to increase the connection between your mid back and your arms. Take five gentle, easy breaths in this position, release arms and continue to send breath to that area of your body. Notice how you feel. Do anywhere yoga :)⠀

Happy February, fellow movers and shakers,⠀

I am reading the book Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom by the late Celtic poet, John O'Donohue. His writing inspires me to actively look for beauty in each day, each moment. Practicing yoga -- slowing down, letting our thoughts soften so our actual experience can shine through, becoming more attuned to what our body feels like in each moment -- helps us notice what is happening around us and inside of us. I hope you are able to find some beauty in each day this month, both external and internal. February schedule attached, I hope to see you in class!⠀
