Mental Health Ice Bucket Challenge 🧊🪣

Today Chief Deputy and I accepted the challenge to help raise awareness for mental health. The shock of the water is a small glimpse of what mental health struggles can feel like - unexpected, overwhelming, and hard to handle alone.

Let’s break the stigma and remind each other: YOU ARE NOT ALONE 💚

Chief Deputy was challenged by Toni Wiersma from the Children's Services Council of Okeechobee, and I was challenged by Andrea Medellin from Okeechobee Healthy Start Coalition.

Together, we challenge the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office peer support team, Lt. Chris Hans, and Erin Moore from HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital to take on the challenge! ⏰ You have 24 hours!

This weekend I had the privilege to attend my first Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee County Business of the Year Awards with one of my favorite local partners, . I’ve often been told, “You are who you surround yourself with,” and I think I’ve surrounded myself with some pretty amazing people and organizations over the last several years. Out of the 6 awards given out Saturday night, our table walked away with 3 of them!

I am truly humbled to have been selected as ⭐️Business of the Year⭐️ in the Leadership category. This recognition means more than words can express, and I am beyond grateful for all of the support 💚

The fact that a mental health-centered business was selected the recipient of this prestigious award sends a powerful message. Our community is taking steps to normalize the importance of mental wellness, and is committed to breaking down the stigmas that still surround mental health.

I want to thank every single person who has supported Waves of Change. You are helping to pave the way for a brighter, healthier future! I am so proud to serve this community and look forward to continuing this journey together!
