It was 7 years ago when Dr Armando Santelices faith became sight and he opened his eyes in the presence of his Lord.

We praise God for what God used him for while he was medical director at Open Hands Health Center. Our vision is the same - to point people to Christ - the way we currently do that has changed some. We continue to offer free womens wellness exams including free mammograms when indicated. We offer free biblical counseling and coaching in all areas of life. Health is not just about the physical, but the emotional, mental and spiritual.

I am thankful that God allowed me the opportunity to work with him and serve together at Open Hands. May God continue to move in and through His health center for His glory.

Today, we lost our dear friend and Medical Director Dr. Armando Santelices “Doc”.

Early this morning, He entered into the loving arms of His Lord and Savior and his faith became sight.

The Lord used Doc in so many ways in each of our lives over these past four years. He was director, mentor, doctor, and friend. He volunteered many hours so we could provide free healthcare to those without insurance. He cared not just about healing physical bodies, but in pointing others towards a right relationship with Jesus so there could be healing of the soul.

His life has been a true testimony to the glory of God. Join us is praying for His wife Lidia and their family during this difficult time.

I read this this morning from Candace Crabtree. It helped me, as I continue to struggle and grieve through many different hard circumstances. I pray it will help others too.

I’ve been thinking all week about disappointment and Christmas. When we were growing up I’m sure we can all remember a Christmas when we didn’t get what we hoped for. At some point Christmas Day felt like a let down. Or maybe there was fighting on Christmas Day. Or loss & grief. Disappointment.

Then, we have kids of our own and when they are little we wonder if we did “enough.” Will they be excited? Will THEY be disappointed on Christmas morning?

As kids grow into adults, those thoughts of wanting our kids to be happy don’t change, but by now we’ve surely realized that there WILL be disappointment especially as their wishlists become increasingly more expensive. 😂

Well, I think disappointment on Christmas is a GOOD THING.

Disappointment on Christmas reminds us that it’s truly not about us. Disappointment, even for children, is a good thing. Let them learn at a young age that Christmas is not about getting everything we wished for.

Disappointment on Christmas reminds us of what Christmas really is.

Disappointment on Christmas reminds us of the One whose birth we celebrate that came to fill our hearts in all the ways those false hopes of Christmas never can.

Disappointment on Christmas reminds us that Jesus satisfies like nothing else.

Disappointment on Christmas reminds us that THIS BROKEN WORLD is what Jesus came for to begin with.

Disappointment on Christmas is actually what it’s all about because it wasn’t about a day or a gift or making our kids happy to begin with.

Disappointment on Christmas reminds us that HE IS THE GIFT.

He is our hope fulfilled.
He is our wonderful counselor.
He is our prince of peace, everlasting father.
He is the way, the truth, the life.
He is the Good Shepherd that lays down His life for His sheep.
He is the bread of life.

May we allow any lingering thoughts of disappointment or sadness be the reminder we all need to look to Jesus, who will never disappoint.

Happy birthday, Jesus
I’m so glad it’s Christmas
All the tinsel and lights
And the presents are nice
But the real gift is You!

Time sure does fly by quickly, don't you agree? Especially when we think about our children; from newborn to toddler to teenager to adult! We need to be prepared for all stages of their lives so we can address any issues (and there will be many) that arise with grace and Scripture! MARK YOUR CALENDARS for Monday, January 12th from 5:30-7pm. You will have an oppurtunity to learn about "Parenting Adult Children". How do you make the move from training to guiding them, while trusting God's work in thier lives? How do you maintain a spirtual influence through love and wisdom, not control? Remember, one day your children will be adults, lets be prepared and learn together how to parent them well for the glory of God!
