We work with the parents as a team to build unique lasting relationships with every child and family. As specialists in pediatric dentistry, we serve infants, toddlers, and children with special health care needs from 1 to 13 years of age. Our team provides for a caring, nurturing environment in providing dentistry for children with the latest technology, and techniques based on clinically sound scientific evidence. Our state-of-the-art office is paperless and equipped with digital X-rays which reduce radiation by 90%. The office is child-friendly, equipped with games, toys, and overhead TV monitors so children can watch their favorite DVDs while their cavities are being filled. With aesthetically beautiful designs and child-friendly murals, our office is like no other in the area. Our friendly staff with extensive pediatric experience helps to make the dental visit comfortable and enjoyable for every child. Parents are also welcome to join their children during treatment!

Using the right amount of toothpaste matters!

According to the American Dental Association (ADA), children under age 3 should use a rice-sized smear of fluoride toothpaste, while children ages 3–6 should use a pea-sized amount!

Using the correct amount helps protect teeth from cavities while keeping brushing safe and effective!

Brushing twice a day for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste helps remove sugar and plaque that can lead to cavities in children’s teeth!

If your child cannot use fluoride toothpaste, we recommend a toothpaste that contains 10% nano-hydroxyapatite. Some of our favorite brands are Supermouth (found in our online store), Dr. Jen Natural, and Boka toothpaste.

Building healthy brushing habits early is one of the best ways to protect your child’s smile for life!

If breastfeeding is painful, it’s not “just you.”

Sometimes the cause can be a tongue tie, which can affect your baby’s latch and make feeding difficult for both baby and mom. If you’re dealing with ongoing pain, poor milk transfer, or feeding frustration, a tongue tie evaluation may provide answers and relief.

At Discover Smiles, we support families with compassionate care and tongue tie evaluations in Okemos, MI. You don’t have to figure this out alone.

Schedule your tongue tie evaluation: mydiscoversmiles.com.
