The Family Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs is pleased to announce our next webinar in the Navigating Healthcare Workshop series. The topic of the webinar is An Introduction to TEFRA.

Join us to learn about TEFRA, a pathway to Medicaid for children with complex needs. This program makes Medicaid available to children with certain physical and/or behavioral disabilities who would not otherwise be eligible due to parent or guardian’s income. CSHCS Nurse Consultant Caitlin Conroy will give an overview of the program, eligibility requirements, and how to apply.

The Family Center offers camp scholarships to increase accessibility to summer camp for children and youth with special health care needs. Join us to learn about eligibility and how to apply. You'll also hear how the camp experience can help your child gain a sense of belonging, build relationships, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

Part 1: Office of Recipient Rights (ORR) and the MI Mental Health Code
Participants will learn about the role of ORR within Michigan's behavioral health system and how to utilize the ORR process. There will also be a discussion on rights protected by the Michigan Mental Health Code.

Part 2: Special Education 101
Participants will learn about the rights students with disabilities, and their parents, have under special education laws. We will discuss what it means to be provided a Free Appropriate Public Education and provide an overview of key rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
