🎁💖 A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Amazing Students! 💖🎁
Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the incredible generosity shown by our students in support of the OUHSC Student Affairs Adopt-A-Patient Campaign!
Thanks to students, faculty and staff, our department collected an incredible number of donations, bringing joy and hope to children who will spend their holidays in our medical centers. Your kindness and commitment to making a difference embody the true spirit of the season and the core values of our medical community.
Together, we are not just shaping future healthcare professionals but also compassionate leaders who go above and beyond to care for others.
Thank you for making this campaign such a success! 🧸🎄✨OU College of Allied Health at OUHSC

2019 OU Sonography Program graduate, Syrenthia Tennyson, was recently accepted into the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science's CAAHEP-accredited Advanced Cardiac Sonography Program 🎉

The program is designed to create a career track for cardiac sonographers who practice at an advanced level in the echocardiography laboratory. An advanced cardiac sonographer prepares preliminary echo assessments and performs advanced echocardiograms; they often take on mentoring and educational roles in coordinating cardiac ultrasound research.

Syrenthia told us she is proud to represent OU at the Mayo Clinic. We are proud to call her an alum. 🔥

Congratulations!!🎉🎉

It is with great excitement that the sonography program shares the news that 2023 graduate Danielle Adler has been selected to participate in the 2023-2024 SDMS Emerging Leaders Program.

From the SDMS Website: https://www.sdms.org/foundation/programs/grants/sdms-foundation-emerging-leaders-program
The SDMS Foundation Emerging Leaders Program annually invites a cohort of students and recent graduates to be mentored as future leaders in the sonography field and with the SDMS. Program participants participate virtually in a variety of leadership education opportunities, designed to engage them in meaningful dialogue and projects related to the future of the profession and leadership volunteerism. The experience culminates with one member of the cohort (chosen based on participation, project/assignment completion, and other factors) receiving a grant to attend the fall SDMS and SDMS Foundation Board of Directors Meetings and SDMS Annual Conference free of charge (including travel). All other participants receive a free year of SDMS membership.

Ms Adler is the 5th OU-Sonography program graduate to represent the program since the program’s inception 5 years ago.

The ASRT recognized our amazing Radiation Therapy Program Director during Native American Heritage Month! # OUHSC College of Allied Health

During Native American Heritage Month, the ASRT spotlights Treasurer Marissa Mangrum, M.S.R.S., R.T.(T). Marissa serves on the ASRT Board of Directors and is a program director and assistant professor for the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. “As a Native American, I am a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The vision of the Choctaw Nation is faith, family and culture, which has always guided me as a therapist. In my family, I have Native American Code Talkers who served in World War II and the Korean War. When I was young, they would share stories from the wars. I grew up being so grateful and proud of my Native American heritage. The stories from my relatives taught me that everyone has a story to tell, and you never know how others have shaped our nation or the role they played in history. My family members were very humble about their service to the country, and it has helped me always show my patients the highest respect and be a listening ear for stories from their past.”
