Been thinking about this CS Lewis quote a bit this week:

"If I find in myself a desire which nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."

But what if the other world is about being different here?

More grounded.
More content. Calm.
In creative spaces more.
In more stable friendships.
Not buffeted by every gust and wave?

And I wonder if all the magic in front of our eyes in the here and now is really about us learning to see this other world is actually in front of us if we just choose to engage with it.
Martin was magic yesterday and made a good case for it.

Beginning in January 2026, I'll be opening up slots of brief therapy available to new clients.

If you've ever considered therapy, but are unsure or don't trust therapy, trying brief therapy might be a way to test it out. You commit to small chunks on your time, as a way to work on yourself in your own space and schedule.

Check out sequoiamentalhealth.com for more and to contact me for setting up sessions.

See ya out there. 🌲🌲🤙🏻🥾🧠🌲🌲

I have an idea for therapists out there. It's not another CEU ambush, not a grind for anything. What if you could get outside for a weekend, and come back feeling like you went on a month long sabbatical?

I'm working on some ideas. But I wanna know: what would YOU want as a clinician? What's your idea of a restorative weekend?

Let me know in the comments.

It's true. Reach out if you want to experience it for yourself.

Step Into the Woods, Step Out of the World.

When you walk into the woods, something changes. The busy, noisy world begins to fall away, and the rhythm of the trees takes over. The woodland has its own pace, and it'll bring you into it, if you let it. Here’s how to make the most of stepping into the green:

Start at the edge. Pause before you enter. Notice how the air feels different, cooler, softer under the trees. Walk with care. Move slowly and quietly. Feel the ground under your boots, the roots and moss guiding your steps.

Tune in. Let the sound of leaves, birdsong, and running water replace the noise of your thoughts. Notice details. Look for fungi on fallen logs, ivy climbing bark, shafts of sunlight breaking through the canopy.

Leave lighter. The woods has a way of drawing out the weight you carry. When you step back into the world, you’ll find it feels a little easier. The woods don’t just give you a walk, they give you a reset.
