Congratulations to Dr. Susan Chambers, on being named the inaugural recipient of the Gordon H. Deckert, M.D. Leadership Award for Community Service by the Oklahoma State Medical Association. 🏆

This award recognizes a physician whose impact extends beyond the walls of clinical practice, through service that strengthens both the medical community and improves the health and well-being of all Oklahomans.

Dr. Chambers is well known for her commitment to our Oklahoma City community, including serving as the past chairwoman of the Oklahoma City National Memorial during the 30th anniversary of the April 19, 1995 bombing. This year's award was presented by fellow Lakeside physician Dr. Pooja Singhal, vice president of the Oklahoma County Medical Society and Oklahoma governor of the American College of Gastroenterology.

❤️ We are so proud to celebrate Dr. Chambers and this well-deserved recognition! ❤️

Every sleep matters. đź’›

About 3,700 babies in the U.S. die each year from sleep-related causes, including SIDS and accidental suffocation, according to the CDC.

The good news: many of these tragedies are preventable.

Follow safe sleep basics every time:
✨ Place baby on their back for every sleep
✨ Use a firm, flat sleep surface
✨ Keep the crib empty (no blankets, pillows or toys)
✨ Share a room, not a bed

Safe sleep isn’t just a guideline — it’s protection. Let’s keep our babies safe, one night at a time.

The best nurses leave a lasting impression not just through outstanding care, but through the comfort, trust and connection they build with our patients.

🌼 We’re honored to recognize our newest DAISY Award winner, Meghan Charles. Meghan is a labor and delivery nurse who joined Lakeside after graduating from Oklahoma City University in May 2025.🌼

As a new nurse, Meghan says her goal is to create a safe and loving environment for each mother, baby and family she cares for. “I hope each patient I care for knows how much I enjoy getting to be a small part of such a big time in their lives,” Meghan shared.

Congratulations, Meghan. Your care does not go unnoticed. ❤️

Today marks our hospital’s first ever vNOTES procedure.❤️

vNOTES (vaginal natural or***ce transluminal endoscopic surgery) is a minimally invasive option for certain hysterectomies that does not require abdominal skin incisions. This innovative surgery generally takes about one to two hours, often less.

For the appropriate patients, vNOTES can mean:
âś… A shorter hospital stay
âś… Less post-op pain
âś… Faster recovery times

We’re proud to reach this milestone and continue expanding advanced minimally-invasive surgical options for the women in our community.

We say goodbye to an amazing Lakeside physician, as Whitney Driver, M.D. prepares to retire from practice April 3. Today, we celebrate her nearly 14 years of dedicated care to women and families here at Lakeside Women's Hospital INTEGRIS Health.

Since joining in 2012, Dr. Driver has been part of some of life’s most meaningful moments for the women in our OKC community. The relationships Dr. Driver built with her patients and colleagues will not be forgotten.

As she begins this next chapter, we cherish the compassion and steady care she brought to her practice for more than a decade.

As we celebrate the close of a remarkable career, we extend our gratitude to Jennifer Nelson, M.D., for her many years of dedicated care and service to women and families in our community.

One of the founding physicians of Lakeside Women’s Hospital INTEGRIS Health, Nelson will retire March 31 after 34 years of practice. Her vision and passion for women’s health helped drive the establishment of Lakeside Women’s Hospital in 1997 alongside its other founders. Throughout her career, she has cared for generations of patients with compassion, expertise and heart. She was also one of the first surgeons in Oklahoma City to embrace robotic surgery, helping advance women’s surgical care in the metro. Her work has always reflected the belief that medicine is more than a profession, it is a calling.

We are deeply grateful for the dedication and compassion Dr. Nelson has shared over the years. Please join us in thanking her for the difference she has made in the lives of so many and in wishing her the very best in retirement.
